After taking in the compelling but somber Tsunami Museum in Hilo, you may wantl to brighten the glow of being on Hawaii's Big Island. Walk half a block, then into the front door of the Full Moon Cafe. Take a seat in their cheery dining room, pick up a menu, and enjoy the attention to detail you see about you.... More

We went to place on a recommendation from our local hosts. The menu is changing on a daily basis, all ingredients are local and their smoked sashimi was voted best from the island. We took all starters and no main. We had little burgers, the smoked sashimi, a veggie dish and korean style short ribs, which were my favorites. But... More

On November 13th, we discovered the Full Moon after visiting the waterfalls. Our friend pulled it up and we were directed just up the street from the Tsunami Museum. Well, it was Hawaii in it's essence; tasteful and clean atmosphere. Menu offered appx 8 items and our group of 4 were well pleased with our choices. These were not regular... More

We weren't too impressed by this place. It changes its menu every night and it seems like the dishes are really hit or miss. I ordered the mahi mahi, which was delicious (especially the potato dumplings), but my husband ordered the fried rice and barely touched it. (He wasn't expecting the fried rice in a place billed to be one... More

Started our meal with succotash with vegan save coconut creme. I am still dreaming of the fresh vegetables nestled in lovely creamy sauce. The mahi mahi was expertly prepared, delicate and flavorable. The decor is unremarkable but with food like they served it truly doesn't matter

Wow. Fusion of Hawaiian and Pacific and Asian I guess. Really excellent ingredients that were very nicely prepared with a few twists on some of my favorites. Started with the Big Isle Succotash - excellent. Also tried the Kaui Prawn Soup - very nice broth and noodles. Had the Market Mahi with house made spaetzle (outstanding). Rice noodle soup was... Very small Asian influenced menu but really nice balance of flavours in the dishes. The staff were really good and helpful. This is a top notch restaurant.

We stumbled across this place on my boyfriends 30th birthday and what a celebration we had! The food was to die for! We had tuna sashimi served several ways - seared with Asian condiments, with olive oil, quails yoke, tomatos and watercress and smoked but not cooked at all. Then we had some pork belly sliders, vegan samosas and my... More

Full Moon Cafe was a surprising treat during our visit to Hawaii - the food was delicious and flavorful and the service was good. Although I ended up ordering fish, it was great to see a vegetarian option that looked amazing as well.
