Crab Crazy!

I had meals back to back, Feb 21 for Lunch and Feb 22 for bunch. Really close to Hilo Airport. Friend going back to Dallas on the 21st, lunch was the Crab and Avocado Sandwich. It was fabulous. Brunch was was the Eggs Benedict with Crabmeat and Mimosa. Just as delightful as the sandwich the day... read more

We went here on a monday night with some out of town guests. It was "fiesta night," which echo's the theme night tackiness of their sister restaurant Kens House of Pancakes across the street. Mistakenly, I ordered the Steak Enchilada and I was majorly disappointed. They mentioned the Chef was from Mexico on the menu, so I thought it could... More

Had a nice fish dish as usual. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We moved tables to get a better view of the ocean and ponds. You could see large goldfish in the water.

Let me start with... The food was good. Not great, just good. Lighting was dim - which ever you prefer. Open air - welcome the elements. Service.... here we go...Reservations for 4 please. Thank you. 630pm. / Arrive 615 and get seated - Awesome! Order at about 645 (Primerib, chicken pasta, Rib Eye Steak)... hmmm. Couple seated behind me get... More

Cool location and atmosphere - good service but food just disappointing. Calamari appetizer was rubbery and greasy. Seared Ahi very good tho. Pasta dishes were sub- average. Eggplant Parmesan was listed as a specialty and is one of my favorites but Ponds was disappointing. I would rate the meal about a 4 out of 10. Also website said happy hour... More

The property has always had a nice location because of the view of the Hilo Bay backwater. But the service was slow, and the food took forever to arrive. Food was average. Our group of three ordered a bottle of wine, but had to send it back because it was stale. We did receive a replacement and it was fine.... More

There are better options in the area. Pretty pricey for what you get we thought. My steak was over cooked and tough. A fairly limited menu as well.

Windows open at this hot spot. Look for the puffer fish in the pond below your window. Good seafood and ample drink sizes. Casual and friendly. Nice change up from other places within walking distance of the Hilo Seaside Hotel.

We've been to Ponds three times now, and have experienced consistently great food. Our most recent visit was yesterday when our group of four ventured out for lunch. I had the fish and chips and they were awesome! Lightly battered and fried to perfection..not the least bit greasy. Hubby had the Kalua Pork Sandwich, which was piled high with pork... More

We arrived without a reservation but were given a nice seat by the window even though they seemed quite busy. The reception staff where we were staying recommended this restaurant. After a 20 minute wait and 2 glasses of water we had to ask for some service, another 20 minutes went by and we finally got a drink. We both... More
