Good food and ambience

This is a cute little restaurant in an old building above a pond. The waiters were friendly, food was delicious and the background Hawaiian music gave the restaurant a great relaxed atmosphere. The seafood dishes were a highlight.

Food and location were perfect. Got taken here for lunch and had the Burger Ole' - a burger with guacamole, jalapeños, onions and cheese - and garlic fries. Totally delicious. We sat next to the pond too, very beautiful. Wait staff were very pleasant.

We spent the day driving across the island, sightseeing along the way. So by the time we got settled in our B&B, we were hungry and happy to find a well-rated restaurant close to our B&B. We made a reservation, and were happy to score a window table just above the koi pond. Our server was cheerful and efficient, always... More

The location is very nice with the tables overlooking the koi pond and lagoon. One must overlook a little traffic noise, but otherwise it is very peaceful as well. Delicious choices were available from fish to steak to pasta, but dessert was the highlight. The price was a bit high for the fare ($35-$40 per person with tip), but worth... More

We've been going to Pond's a long time, even when it used to be Harrington's (old name). The food and service is always good. I like the fish and chips, very crispy on the outside while moist and tender on the inside. The prime bits are great. Very tender and tasty. However, the garlic potatoes were dry the last time... I had a nice portion of fried snapper ona bed of fries that was to die for! Tje fish was just the right texture. That was on the dinner menu and was $10 for that price it was an excellent bargain I would definitely come back to this restaurant in the future. Our table was near a window which overlooked... We were visiting Hilo and found this restaurant. What a blast from the past. Reminds me of what Hilo was in the 60's and 70's. We had there fish and chips which were good. What was awesome was there homemade taquitos for an appetizer. Drinks were great! Our son loved feeding the koi's. Service was awesome.

After a longish sightseeing drive from the Hawaii island's west side we were searching for a Hilo restaurant to feed our souls. Lots of Trip Advisor's recommendations were closed for dinner so we headed to Pond's near Banyan Drive. Though atmosphere may not be to everyone's taste, we knew to judge it by the quality of its food. All three... More

We went here on a monday night with some out of town guests. It was "fiesta night," which echo's the theme night tackiness of their sister restaurant Kens House of Pancakes across the street. Mistakenly, I ordered the Steak Enchilada and I was majorly disappointed. They mentioned the Chef was from Mexico on the menu, so I thought it could... More
