Ok food, cute store

We showed up 10 minutes before they were ready to open. There were about 4 other groups waiting to be seated also. They totally made us wait until after 11:30 to seat is all. The place is cute & relaxing. A casual place that had mixing of a store, gallery & restaurant. Food was ok. Was a bit... read more

We stumbled across this place, and what a gem. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a Thai fish salad and a light fish dish. The salad was to die for. Husband ordered mocha cheesecake and of course I had to have a taste. I wanted to lick the plate clean, it was so good. Fortunately he also ordered it... More

The staff was wonderful and the gift shop is very nice. The lilikoi margarita was strong and sweet but not too sweet...just prefer to pay less than $8 for a drink that is filled to the brim with ice. My husband implied one of us order the "Bamboozle" which is a pu-pu platter; I volunteered. This was a mistake. The... More

I dine at Bamboo Restaurant every time I'm on the Big Island. This is truly a special place, as it reminds me of the "old Hawaii" I fell in love with years ago. The restaurant is located in a historic building in Hawi Town, which is about 30-45 minutes from the main resorts along the Kona & Kahala Coasts. Its... More

Had a fantastic lunch at Bamboo restaurant. Wife and daughter had the grilled fresh fish, mahi mahi the day we were there. I had the bbq ribs. All the food was great, well prepared and presented. Bamboo also has an artisan gallery upstairs and on main level where they have a lot of art by local folks. Some very cool... More

Eight days on the Big Island, and we enjoyed Bamboo twice. Friendly service, great food and a heck of a bartender!

This was my first visit to Bamboo for dinner, having many memorable lunches on my previous visits to this "must eat at" establishment. Since it is a good 45 minute drive at night back to Wikaloa Village, we arrived early, it was well worth it. They served dinner from 6:00 to 8:00 on Thursday. I ordered the Kahala Cordon &... More

It is hard to find a really good restaurant on the Big Island. (It is an island and it is not the crazy Maui or Honolulu, so choices are limited.) I have eaten at Bamboo about 10 times. I love the ambiance with open air screen-in front and relaxed island decor. A sweet spot to stop when you are in... More

We ate a lunch in this restaurant recently. The building itself is very quaint and reflects the history of the surrounding area. The food was decent but nothing special. The service was acceptable but not particularly friendly or welcoming.

We eat here every trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. Good local place to eat with adjacent shop and art gallery. My favorite is the pulled pork. Some people may consider Hawi out of the way but we like the drive and local area.
