From the outside it looked like a closed rundown Chinese restaurant but once inside it has a casual hip Hawaiian feel with a lovely gift shop attached. It is not a Chinese restaurant, but Hawaiian fare. The food was fresh and tasty. The owners were helpful and so nice. Don't miss hidden treasure.

We had just come from hiking down the Pololu valley lookout and was right around lunch time. We stopped here to shop the area and decided on lunch, not knowing its known for pulled pork! The best pulled pork sandwich I had the whole week. All 3 of us had it and my daughter got the dumplings with a sauce... More

I loved the mahi mahi encrusted in cocomut and deep fried, crispy tender, and not the least bit greasy. Salad was excellent with papaya seed dressing. The restaurant itself was a little too warm but they brought a fan over and sat it right next to me. Wonderful! The atmosphere was old time Hawaiian without being too commercial and you... More

Been up to Hawi too many times to mention, but have always just stopped for coffee and/or ice cream, this time we decided to have lunch. Based on Tripadvisor reviews, we chose this establishment. We were quite happy with our choice. The place has real charm, as it is a old building that has been restored. Food was quite good...... More

Very interesting place with great history. The staff was extremely friendly and provided outstanding service. The food was ok but did not match the dynamics of the wait staff. Looking for a unique Hawaiian meal and had the Polenta and Fish. Fish was slightly overcooked and thought the the Polenta was as well. Daughter had pasta and also thought the... More

We had a good group lunch after a morning of hiking. The drinks were mediocre, but the pot stickers, kalua pork lunch (tremendous portion size) and the deserts were wonderful! Charming dance entertainment, charming location and decor.

The fresh catch was great. We had a salad with grilled ono for lunch. It was so good we went back for dinner even though we were staying at the Mauni Lani. The lime slushie is fantastic. If they have it, get it. All the servers were very attentive and friendly. Truly a small town atmosphere.

My husband and I wanted to eat before we go to the pololu valley lookout and hike down. The staff is friendly and fast, the food was good, and the place was comfortable. We had their sample platter and the grilled herb fish. Everything was tasty. The fish was seasoned and cooked right. The fish of the day changes depending... More

If you are around Hawi, then Bamboo is a great place where to have your meal. Friendly and always animated, the menu is a mixture of traditional Hawaiian dishes such as grilled fish and Asia-Thai flavours. Nice mix! Staff is competent and fast, our dishes arrived in a very speedy way. It was tasty, satisfactory and full-portionned. I recommend the... More

I had the BBQ pork sandwich and it was good and huge. My husband had the fresh fish and it was a bit small of a serving, even for lunch. The service was good and atmosphere okay. It was a good stop on the way back from a road trip up to Pololu Valley Lookout.

The fish they ordered is called "Light Lunch" on the menu. Yes, it IS a small portion, that's what it says! If you want a "normal" or large portion, it is there on the menu, too. So, what can I say? ummmm.... read the menu? ha! I wonder what these folks would have needed for atmosphere to be better than... More
