Bamboo Cafe

We eat here every trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. Good local place to eat with adjacent shop and art gallery. My favorite is the pulled pork. Some people may consider Hawi out of the way but we like the drive and local area.

As the name would suggest, this is a tried and true location of classic Hawaiian low fidelity décor, dishes with fresh fish and tropical salsas, and the ubiquitous Mai Tai. There’s a sign on the outside of the restaurant that reads “voted the best restaurant on the big island”. Hmmm…it’s interesting, and the food was good, but “best restaurant”…certainly some... More

A nice old style Hawaiian Restaurant in an old building. If you're lucky the service personal will dance the hula. It has a great selection of Hawaiian food. The service was friendly and quick.

The food was the best we had on the Big Island. All the food was prepared fresh from locally grown ingredients. The service was excellent and you can wander the Gallery full with Pacific Art and Hawaiian handcrafts.

An interesting old building delightfully decorated with an interesting history. However, some of the portion sizes were on the light side. Wait staff was friendly and attentive.

This was the first place we had dinner on our 1st full night on the Big Island and we picked a winner. Our motley crew of 6 tried everything from drinks to dessert and nothing disappointed. Service was very friendly from the time we called to ask about reservations until saying goodnight, libations were strong and the live music was... More

This restaurant has been a family favorite for many years. Pleasant interior decor and restaurant personnel. Menu offers good variety and several preparation of fresh fish. Highly recommend fish dishes and ribs. Chicken Teriyaki is a good choice too. Appetizers and salads are generous.

Bamboo restaurant in Kohala has become an institution with a great story of contributing to the local community. It serves island-fresh fish and other dishes. The large restaurant is good for accommodating groups as well as a couple for cozy dining. The bar is lively, for this small town. The restaurant sometimes is a great venue for live music with... Fun building that has quite a history. Great food and great wait staff. Try the pot stickers for a pupu. Very fun place.
