Without doubt the finest, freshest, cooked to order, Mexican food on the Big Island of Hawaii.!!! Maria is an excellent Mexican chef and owner and nothing is steam-table warmed. The menu is extensive with all the traditional south of the border offerings. If your mouth is watering for delicious "home-cooked" Mexican food, truly "home-cooked" as she lives on the site... Went there on a whim and glad we did. True Mexican food served the traditional way. Just a small restaurant with no more then 12 small tables. You walk up to a window, place your order and sit down. They bring it to you. We started with the chips and salsa and the taste of the salsa blew us away... More

This is literally a hole in a wall with half a dozen tables in the breezeway. Such a charming little place in downtown Hawi. The locals eat there regularly and the lovely women at the window was busy taking phone orders. Food is served on huge platters with gorgeous salsa and guacamole. Honestly I am no expert on Mexican food... More

We asked the owner of an upscale shop where to have lunch. Of the two places she mentioned we chose Mi Ranchito. We each ordered different things. All five of us were happily impressed with the simply outstanding Mexican food!

We ordered food to go after a strenuous hike in and out of the Pololu Valley plus the distant valleys. Great authentic mexican food. The service was quick and friendly. The food was filling and authentic. We took it to go and found a lovely spot a local beach to watch the sunset. So cool that you can have beer... More

Yes!!! This place is great and full of character. Order through the window, get a beer from the liquor store next door, and plant yourself at one of the tables. The homestyle food is delicious, as are the horchatas! Can't wait to go back!

We have been coming to Kailua Kona for over 15 years and we always have to have our Mexican food each week--we are from Arizona so we know good Mexican food. Several years ago we discovered El Maguey in a little strip mall in Kailua Kona--across the street from the Honda Dealership. Good, good food. So, yesterday we decided to... More

This little place is wonderful. There is a window in a breezeway to order from a charming mamacita. There are a few tables placed around the perimeter out of the breeze or the rain. After ordering, you are served a basket of chips and salsa. ( You can duck around the corner to buy a Corona or two from the... More

Great place for lunch. Located in the rear of the Kohala Trade Center building. Order at the window and take a seat inside or at one of the few tables outside overlooking the rear parking area. Chips and salsa were fair. Lunch portions were large; prices were inexpensive (for Hawaii). The burrito and enchiladas that we ordered were filling. No... More

My friend and I rented Harley Davidson motorcycles from Kailua (from Big Island Harley Davidson) and rode north to Hawi for some lunch. We came across this "window service" Mexican restaurant, the menu looked great and kitchen looked extremely clean through the ordering window. Two very personable Mexican ladies were busy preparing food in the kitchen and the music playing... More
