The Coffee Shack is a small, unpretentious restaurant serving breakfast and lunch only. It has covered, outdoor seating with a wonderful view of Kealakekua Bay as well as surrounding coffee fields. We usually go there for breakfast and can tell you with certainty that the eggs benedict and the island style French toast are great. The Coffee Shack makes its... More

Easy to miss if you're not looking for it, but very worth a stop-in! Awesome view of the coast and of Kealakekua Bay. The food was very good and service good too. The coolest thing is that they have tiny little cups of jelly (?) out on the deck for geckos, who feed there often, so you can get great... More

We visited the Coffee Shack on our last day on the Big Island, next time we will go often! Fantastic food, beautiful view, probably the best (and biggest) coffee I had during our entire trip, and the staff was extremely friendly. The geckos were just a fantastic bonus. I didn't find it overly expensive as other people have mentioned. The... More

The Coffee Shack is well known to locals on the big island, but might be easily missed by visitors. The food, choices portion sizes, service and view from the balcony are remarkable and leave you with an indelible memory. The staff is friendly, the food is handmade, and of course the coffee is great too. It's outside the city of... More

We were aiming for breakfast, but ended up there at lunch. Sandwiches were overpriced, bland and bread falling apart one you got into it. At least the geckos obliged.

So many glowing reviews. i don;t get it. We went in just for a cup of coffee to go and it must have been right before they closed because the rude person at the counter made it very obvious we could not be seated even though we didn't ask to be. The coffee was really weak and bitter and not... More

Stopped in here on the way to the volcano on the recommendation of a frequent island visitor. Fantastic breakfast, tasty homemade bread, and an outstanding view. The wait staff was efficient and courteous too. Parking is extremely limited, so be prepared to pass by a time or two if no spots are available. If you park across the road, you... More

Simple veggie omlet breakfast with the best Portuguese sausage on the island. Sat by a window since the lanai was full. It was overlooking the coastline with open windows. It was just a simple, understated location on the way to Place of Refuge state park with a spectacular view of coffee trees, coastline and singing birds. The parking is limited... More

We stopped here while driving to Volcanoes, and liked it so much we kept coming back! They were friendly, had a beautiful location (overlooking tropical flowers and the Bay), grew their own (terrific) coffee, and made amazing breads and breakfast items (I'm sure the other food was great too)> prices were reasonable and the fruit was amazing

My wife and I have eaten here many times. This place overlooks the beautiful Kealakekua Bay in South Kona, Hawaii. The view is fabulous. The sandwiches they serve are all made from fresh homemade bread and high quality ingredients in generous portions. The prices are not cheap, but are a good value for the amount and quality of the food.... More
