Local

We read that this is the place in Captain Cook to have good local homemade style food. We got the pork with cabbage and the laulau pork. Both were very good. We also tried the poi. It takes a while to get used to the flavor and texture. Good value for money. Friendly staff.

We stopped by as we wanted to try some real Hawaiian food too and we had read some good reviews on TA. It's a family business and they were nice to us, the food is not expensive but don't expect anything poshy. It was an interesting experience but I didn't really like taro leaf, so for me once was probably... More

Since I'm a vegetarian, the restaurant has little to offer me, but my wife wanted to try it for the experience. She said the food was good; however, she didn't beg me to go back for more, like she does with Kenichi Sushi (south Kailua), or Yong's Kalbi in Waimea. Drop by if you want an authentic experience.

These lau laus are salty, porky, tender goodness. We had to get frozen ones and steam them in the oven as they were out of the fresh. But they were really tasty.

I personally love this place because it offers the right portions and the laulau is the best on the Island. Everything is homemade, therefore it is very tasty. Its to die for, you have got to try it..

Last visited the Big Island in April 2013 and had lunch here. 2.5 years later, still by far the best quality local food with the best prices. Really enjoy the home-cooked meal and will be back again, hopefully less than 2.5 years from now. Janice (the owner) is extremely friendly and helpful - a must visit when in the Big... More

We stopped by here to grab some lunch after snorkeling trip. The lau lau they made was very tasty. They have lunch combo range from 9 dollar a plate to 12 dollars. The also sell lau lau to go for 3 dollar each. We bought a few to eat at night.

We stopped in at Super J's for some pork lau lau. Our only regret is that we waited until our last evening in the island. Amazing pork lau lau & Kalua Pig & Cabbage!!! So flavorful & tender. Definitely served with love by Janice. The mac-potato salad was also outstanding. We WILL be back! Don't miss this wonderful "real Hawaii"... More

We have dined here for local style plates. However, our favorite is to buy the frozen 12 pack of pork laulau and steam them when we need to eat soon! They come precooked and just amazingly handmade by two Hawaiians and their family. They know their stuff, we love their food. Ono (delicious)
