Get the pork lau lau. Cute family-run place. It's certainly a must if you're on the big island. You might be confused if you're in the right place when you get there but you are there. The restaurant is their house but don't let that fool you

Super Js is not really a restaurant. It is more like a lunch wagon in someone's living room. Literally. The chef has pushed a few lazy boys to one side, set up a couple of folding tables, and added 8 chairs. There is a small kitchen with a homemade wooden counter. No view. I get the feeling that when the... More

We were told that Super J's had the best laulau (taro wrapped pork) in the world. Summer Anderson said the same thing. Had to try it. Considering myself a bit of a laualu connoisseur, I stopped by. I loved the place...very local. When we went in, we sat a folding tables with plastic outdoor chairs. At the other end of... More

Just happened by around lunch time, a bit ready for grinds so stopped in. It was surprisingly dang good and will make a point to go back. I had a local plate lunch and every dish was just fine. Hope you get the chance to grab a bite-especially if you are grinding your way up to Makalei. Stop by for... More

We would have driven right past if it wasn't for a lady in the parking lot of The Royal Kona Coffee Visitor Center telling us about Kaaloa's. It was only a couple blocks south. The Laulau and mac salad was very good. The restaurant is very simple and low key. My wife, daughter and I were both pretty wet from... More

We were in the Big Island and came across Super J's based on the comments. At first we were skeptical but man it was so good. I wanted to eat it every day but unfortunately our kids wanted the more traditional food from the mainland. Must have for a authentic Hawaiian dish and the ladies are so sweet!

I love this place. When I'm on the Big Island I usually eat here 2-3 times. the first time I ate here was several years ago. I was looking for Hawaiian food and I found it on the internet (not sure which site Yelp or Tripadvisor, etc.?). When we got there it looked like a somewhat rundown house on the... More

So glad I did my research and knew to look for Super J's, cause I would have missed it. If I could have some of Super J's pork lau lau right now I'd be a very happy girl. It's nothing fancy but it's authentic and fabulous and made with LOVE. Get the pork lau lau, then get more to go-... More

We found out about this place on our last day on the Big Island. Another place we stopped at to grab a quick bite told us about the most original Polynesian food on the island, and it was only 15 minutes away from where we were. We drove around for a while and finally went back to Super J's. It... More
