Read the reviews and made a point to stop and this little unassuming store/cafe is absolutely worth 5 stars! The plate lunch was one of the best I've ever had from any island and really is so cheap its amazing. The 2 tables inside you can eat at but really you should grab this and go down to the beach... Authentic. Delicious. Affordable. Easy to miss on the street because it's so unassuming, so keep looking. The pork lau lau is incredible, and a sweet little dog wanders around as you settle down. The owner is full of kindness -- and even feeds you in her house.

I went to this small hole in the wall, it's a house, and had the best laulau in the world! The owners are a hoot and know what they're doing. It's a local joint so you know it's good. Try the kulolo if they have it, it's different brown sugary taro, polenta like, dessert.

Sought out this place after reading TripAdvisor Reviews. Didn't know what a lau lau was, but needed to try it! Just as other reviewers have written, it is an eclectic place, one you would never stop at if not for the tantalizing reviews. Enjoyed the lau lau, pork and cabbage, and a desert bar and the feeling that we had... More

Get the pork lau lau. Cute family-run place. It's certainly a must if you're on the big island. You might be confused if you're in the right place when you get there but you are there. The restaurant is their house but don't let that fool you

Super Js is not really a restaurant. It is more like a lunch wagon in someone's living room. Literally. The chef has pushed a few lazy boys to one side, set up a couple of folding tables, and added 8 chairs. There is a small kitchen with a homemade wooden counter. No view. I get the feeling that when the... More

We were told that Super J's had the best laulau (taro wrapped pork) in the world. Summer Anderson said the same thing. Had to try it. Considering myself a bit of a laualu connoisseur, I stopped by. I loved the place...very local. When we went in, we sat a folding tables with plastic outdoor chairs. At the other end of... More

Just happened by around lunch time, a bit ready for grinds so stopped in. It was surprisingly dang good and will make a point to go back. I had a local plate lunch and every dish was just fine. Hope you get the chance to grab a bite-especially if you are grinding your way up to Makalei. Stop by for... More

We would have driven right past if it wasn't for a lady in the parking lot of The Royal Kona Coffee Visitor Center telling us about Kaaloa's. It was only a couple blocks south. The Laulau and mac salad was very good. The restaurant is very simple and low key. My wife, daughter and I were both pretty wet from... More

We were in the Big Island and came across Super J's based on the comments. At first we were skeptical but man it was so good. I wanted to eat it every day but unfortunately our kids wanted the more traditional food from the mainland. Must have for a authentic Hawaiian dish and the ladies are so sweet!
