We were invited here for after church service brunch. The cheery little place is bright and inviting. The staff are friendly and efficient. The complimentary malasadas (Portuguese pastries) were the best we've had on the Big Island! Our cream cheese stuffed French toast was awesome. I liked the strawberry compote better than the mango. There is a senior menu which... More

My husband and I were just looking for a place to eat in an area we were unfamiliar with and found this place. It was a delight! My husband got the kahlua pork with cabbage and ohelo sauce which tastes a bit like cranberry. I tried it and it was delicious! I got the stuffed french toast with a yummy... More

Great stop in Captain Cook....I had my first Loco Moco here and it was much better than expected. My boyfriend got the Japanese breakfast and thought it was original and authentic. We also shared the cream cheese stuffed french toast and it was to die for. Good service, good vibes, great coffee and great experience!

Christmas time 2014, the Big Island. We were looking for a coffee plantation, but it was pouring rain, so we made a right turn into a friendly family looking cafe. At first we were a bit confused because there was a drive thru and we didn't want that, but there were spaces to park and because of the rain we... More

Really enjoyed our lunch at Mahina Cafe. Had fish and chips using tuna fish. Home made cole slaw. All very good. Son loved his burger too. Clean and friendly. Would strongly recommend

My husband and I discovered this gem by happy accident and ended up re-visiting it 2 times during our stay. The menu has a wide variety of choices, the food is delicious and locally/responsibly sourced, and the staff is very nice. This is not a glamorous restaurant (but it is very clean) and the service is slow (but, you're in... More

A very charming cafe owe and run by two sisters who were born and bred in the area. I only had coffee and pastry and they were lovely. We had a lovely discussion of the famous local MMA fighter of BJ Penn and how locals feel about the big five American companies which donated the production of some agricultural products.... More

I went there because a friend recommended Mahina cafe and I was not disappointed. The food was good, the place was very clean and the staff was super nice. I'm sorry I couldn't go back again, but I certainly know where to go when I go back to the Hawai'i.

I had a traditional Hawaiian meal, and it was fantastic! In fact, it was the only truly traditional meal I had during my vacation in Hawaii, and I loved all of the unusual dishes and flavors. Kudos to the chefs and owners. :-)
