I stopped at Big Jakes for a late lunch. It's kinda hard to find so look for Da Poke Shack and it's right beside it. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was huge! It came with beans and cole slaw. The sauce was excellent too! A must stop if you're wanting BBQ!

This place doesn't look like munch - it's right off the highway, if your not paying attention you can miss it pretty easily...it is first come first serve. It looks intimidating and rundown, but don't be afraid to stop; the people who run it are always very nice. You stand outside at a window to place your order and then... More

We always see a line at the order window when we drive by, so we decided that it was a must stop. Boy oh boy, were we happy we did! The famous BBQ Pulled pork sandwich with their own sauce is the best I've had. Ribs were also perfection. Its a one man show, so expect a little wait. It's... More

I'm from the southern United States where BBQ is serious. Went to the NYC BBQ fest last year. Jake's should be featured. EXCELLENT pulled chicken on fresh bun. Drippy, messy, soaked the bread kind of bbq sauce. I loved it. Iced tea was good but in a small cup--don't skimp on it, Jake's! With BBQ this yummy, we need adequate... More

Staff was very nice and attentive. We ordered through the window and took a seat at a picnic table in the shade. About 10 minutes later, we had a very good late lunch. The pulled barbeque chicken and pork plates were fresh tasting and plentiful. The shredded meats were piled over beds of rice and came with slaw or potato... More

The food is excellent but a little pricy for sandwiches. We could have gone with cheaper items but we decided on a fish sandwich and the best BBQ pork sandwich we've ever had (and we've tried them all over the country). There are chickens that walk around the outdoor seating area. They are rescues from fighting rings. Apparently they are... More

My husband, 2 sons, and I ate at Big Jakes on a recent trip to the big island. My sons (ages 3 and 10) loved the hot dogs, my husband had the ribs and they were quite good, I had the brisket and it was ok. It was very fatty and could have used more sauce. I didn't think the... More

My husband and I stopped here for lunch one day. We ordered two brisket plates and they were to die for! You get PLENTY of food - a large helping of brisket over rice, beans, cole slaw. You could tell it was all slow cooked and delectable! We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and it was great too. We... More

We stopped here first day on island. We had the barbecued chicken, half rack of ribs and the beef brisket plate. The beef melted in your mouth and the sides were outstanding. The ribs...OMG better than 2 well known places in Rochester, NY. Chicken was tender and moist. Great food.

Came here on the advice of several reviewers. Great barbecue that was worth breaking my no meat for lent diet (yes, I know as I write this that lent ends tomorrow!). We got everything (brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, baked beans and coleslaw), including dessert (lilikoi bread pudding). We had enough food for dinner that night and light lunch and... More
