A nice change in our meal plan

While in Jackson, we take advantage of the steakhouses and meat we don't see on menus too often in the east. We wanted to try something a bit different one night, so went to Nikai. It's a small place, but quaint, settled in the upper level of a building. The sushi bar and options are extensive... read more

We always eat at Nikai when we come to Jackson, which is about three times a year. We've traveled some, including coastal cities and Asian countries. Who would have guessed that some of the best sushi available is in a mountain town in Wyoming? Our service was good ~ no complaints. These are good folks serving great food in a... More

We have eaten here several times. We have never had a bad meal here. The service can be iffy but the food is always good. The drinks are great especially the Saki Sidecar. The TNT Tuna roll is amazing. The atmosphere is fun and laid back, for sure make a reservation as it is always busy!

Given the challenge of flying in fresh fish to a landlocked mountain town, you don't typically expect great sushi but Nikai tries to do it right - and sometimes even succeeds... I have found the quality to vary from very good to just OK, service is somewhat indifferent most of the time - yes, they are well trained and say... More

Our waiter warned us the sushi comes out when its completed but never would we have expected my son's chicken dish to be delivered 30 minutes before any of the sushi and then the sushi to come out individual rolls about 10 minutes between each roll---so it was a nice long drawn out dinner with great food, but the wait... Great food. Great service. Management went above and beyond due to my oyster allergy. Unique. Make reservations.

Fish is flown in daily and made fresh at the sushi bar. Try the waygu beef from Idaho! Great selection and affordable prices.

Nikai is the best Sushi and Japanese food you will get in JH - I tried them all and this is my "expert" opinion. The rolls and Sashimi are clean, the presentation is wonderful, and the taste is second to none. Try the Escolar with Jalapeño, but the real badge of honor is their selections of Sake - make sure... We've eaten at this small, upstairs sushi and grill restaurant every year for the past 6 or 7 - so I think we know what we like. The menu is divided between 2 kitchens - and while sometimes that can result in odd timing events (things ordered first arriving last), it's not generally a challenge. This year, as we'd done... We ordered five different types of sushi including the special. All of it was fabulous. The Big Kahuna is my favorite. The kitchen had sold out of the pork belly but will definitely try next time we are in town. We always eat here at least one time on our trips.
