Excellent food, slow service, order meat cooked a notch below what you usually order

We were spending the night in Buffalo and had read about Winchester Steakhouse. Now (and newly) open on Sunday nights (something our desk clerk at the Hampton Inn was unaware of), it offers wonderful beef at mid-range prices ($36 for a 12 oz. filet mignon, $7 a glass for wine). The wedge salad... read more

After reading the reviews for this restaurant I was excited for the meal. However after sitting down it was clear that this was not the " best steakhouse in the world" instead. We were meet with extremely salty food, flickering lights and sub- par mash potatoes. Granted, we are from a foodie town but this was just plain mediocre.

Great service, friendly efficient staff. I knew we were in trouble when the wine special was Barefoot Cabernet for $15. We ordered the Tensleep Ale (yum) and trudged ahead. This is the kind of place that gives you a big piece of meat and smothers it with mushrooms or gravy or some other sauce of your choice. Always a potato... More

My husband I dined at the Winchester last night-June 26. On the plus side my husband ordered onion rings. Both the rings and the accompanying sauce were delicious. The blue cheese dressing on the salad is made in house and was also delicious. Our New York steaks were perfectly cooked and delicious. However, the mushrooms that accompanied the steaks were... Went with friends. To start off, it was so smokey from kitchen our eyes were watering. Our waitress was so unfriendly.. Wanted good steaks... Didn't happen. One of our friends had the ribeye, chewed and chewed and chewed. So tough. Being from the Gulf Coast I saw Jumbo shrimp cocktail on the menu. I knew it was a mistake.. Hoped... More

Great food, some on the pricier side but worth it. They seem to be very busy so expect somewhat of a wait. Sit out front, there is a view of the mountains which are beautiful just before the sun sets.

Not sure I can give it a better rating cause we had a light diner. But salads made from fresh ingrediants and just the right portions. Shrimp and veggies cooked perfectly. Try it out for yourself.

Both food and service were excellent. Friendly staff and an extraordinary meal of Blackened Salmon and potato.

Stopped here for dinner with my husband and parents. The parking lot was completely packed, but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. There was a cozy seating area near a fireplace and a cozy little bar, so that 10 minutes went by very fast. The food was excellent. I recommend the New York Strip. Order... More

This place runs like clockwork. Whoever is in charge deserves a raise. You don't feel rushed at all but the staff is efficient and no one is left standing and tables are not left dirty. The food we had was excellent. Hubby had a prime rib and I had Scallops scampi. Of course you get a bread basket, selection of... More
