My husband and I went to the Poplar Inn this summer. We sat in their outdoor patio area and waited almost a half hour for a waitress. Many people would have probably just left, but we like their food and were in no rush. They were not busy; at least not outside. At the end of our meal I asked... More

I don't usually write reviews of restaurants in my home state of Wisconsin, especially one within a half hour of my home. I tend to write reviews from when I am traveling out of state and out of country. I am making this exception due to the surprisingly wonderful meal we had here. My husband and I decided to go... My husband and I dine at the Poplar several times a month. The food is always great and the service is top notch! They have live entertainment on Friday nights. We try to go everytime they have Latin Rhythms playing there. Great Atmosphere and Judy is a wonderful host!

Waited for over 40 minutes for a steak entre that was not of good quality. Sent it back and waited another 20 minutes and still no new entre. No apologies from wait staff, no indication they cared at all about the situation. Chose the restaurant based on reputation and reviews. Very disappointed in food and service. Not worth the ranking... More

I took my wife there for her birthday and was pleased with the atmosphere. She had shrimp and was pleased and I had pork snitchall. It was not what I thought it would be but tasted good. Wine was reasonably priced on the lower end than moves higher fast. Our server (Jane) was excellent. We'll be back soon.

Excellent food and service in a unique setting! The service and food were both excellent during a recent visit. I have been here before and the only disppointment was that the oil lamps on each table have been replaced with fake candles. Bring back the oil lamps please!! Menus is good and a good wine list.

Went to the Poplar Inn on a Monday night for our anniversary. Surprisingly busy with several larger groups for a Monday. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait for a table. That was fine. We sat at the bar and had a nice specialty cocktail. At almost exactly 45 minutes we were taken to a table. We... More

We dropped in from Chicago area while on a Fall color tour. Our server set the great tone with suggestions for a Special (coconut curry) and a classic entree (glazed duck). Food was great. Wonderful ambience in historic setting. Wished we lived closer and we would dine here weekly. Yes, it was that nice!

This was our second visit to The Poplar Inn. This time it was our anniversary. We enjoyed the scallop appetizer. Wine selection was good. I had filet which was done perfectly and very tender. Husband had the towering inferno which is a filet on top of a breaded portobello mushroom topped with gorgonzola cheese. Delicious homemade cheesecake. Excellent service. A... More
