First visit to this historical location. Quaint cream city brick exterior. Upon entering instant step back to early colonial atmosphere. Low lighting and original wide plank flooring. Warm greeting by front staff. Restaurant had white linen table cloths and soft table flickering candles. Two story restaurant with bar on the upper level with more tables for private parties. The Poplar Inn is a favorite for dinner on their patio during the summer, and when it is snowing, the dining room is warm and inviting. The wine list has some interesting and unique choices. The menu has several interesting choices. My date had Brandied Chicken with Tomatoe Rissoto, and I had Seared Ahi Tuna with a splash of wasabi... More

There were empty tables, yet they wouldn't seat us. They took our order and 15 minutes later said, "Would you like bread?" My reply (to myself), "Of course, we're hungry." Then, we sat around and looked at one another for quite some time. It was if they dragged out the food service to seem like we were dining at some... More

We went with a group of four and the food for all of us was amazing. I highly recommend the students they are made to perfection with a large variety of types available. Save room for dessert they are wonderful too.

We have enjoyed many quality meals at the Poplar Inn over the years, usually to celebrate a special occasion. Last night our oldest daughter joined me and my wife for dinner. It was very crowded on a Friday night and service was much slower than we had ever experienced. Our waitress was not keeping an eye on our drinks and... More

This was our first visit to the Poplar Inn and the food was spectacular, service was OK, but could have been better. It was very busy so we could understand. Wondered about the choices of soup. One was lentil and the other was chili. What? Chili at an upscale restaurant? One very uncomfortable thing was that every time someone left... More

My husband and I went to the Poplar Inn this summer. We sat in their outdoor patio area and waited almost a half hour for a waitress. Many people would have probably just left, but we like their food and were in no rush. They were not busy; at least not outside. At the end of our meal I asked... More

I don't usually write reviews of restaurants in my home state of Wisconsin, especially one within a half hour of my home. I tend to write reviews from when I am traveling out of state and out of country. I am making this exception due to the surprisingly wonderful meal we had here. My husband and I decided to go... My husband and I dine at the Poplar several times a month. The food is always great and the service is top notch! They have live entertainment on Friday nights. We try to go everytime they have Latin Rhythms playing there. Great Atmosphere and Judy is a wonderful host!
