A new life for the Black Forest

After many years as a pretty good restaurant, Black Forest is under new owners, and has gone back to their German food heritage. I understand that they will be reviewing and revising the menu as time goes on, based on diners' preferences. Wonderful changes have been made to the dining room... read more

Wonderful changes have been made to the dining room: booths have been added, and a big stone fireplace... More

Most memorable experience of this place was the effort and courteous staff who seemed to keep the welcoming and charming appeal vibrant. Food favorite was the homemade German desert fresh out of the oven. We tried a meat dish that was good however not mind blowing. Oddly I was thrilled with the side of cabbage for taste and texture. I'm... More

The new and improved Black Forest is excellent. The new owners show case their German heritage via the food very well. Their food rivals my Austrian mother's cooking. Their goulash would of met my mother's approval and she would of demanded to know how they got her recipe. Very flavorful and well done (German) food, great service and at a... More

We went early on a Saturday evening so we stopped in the bar area for drinks before requesting seating. The bartender (female) was very nice and friendly. The drinks were delivered quickly and correctly. We engaged in conversation with the bartender several times while we were sitting there. Upon moving to the hostess stand, we were greeted immediately and seated... More

My husband had Mac ’n Chicken: "Tender grilled chicken and sautéed black forest bacon in a rich, creamy sauce, topped with freshly grated Emmentaler, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, then baked to golden". Mmmmh, sounds like a punch of flavor, right? Not so much. The vegetarian spätzle dish I ordered appears to have since been removed from the menu (!?) which... More

The Black Forest has recently reopened under new management with a small makeover and a completely new menu. The location is a beautiful and historic building, and everyone wants to see the new owners succeed and are excited by the changes and updates. Boy, I was so tired of the house salad with the shredded carrots and the crispy things!... More

Glad to see the Black Forest has reopened. Wonderful job on the renovations. Bartenders and wait staff are friendly and professional. Good to see familiar faces. Had dinner there Saturday evening. Bread or rolls on the table would have been a nice touch. The bacon potato soup was good, but not what we expected. Rather than chunks of potato and... More

My husband and I went to the Black Forest on Valentine's Day. We had been there when they were previously open, but had not been there since reopening on NYE. The changes to the interior were subtle, keeping the original charm of the place intact. Comfortable booths were place along the exterior and we were seated in on of them.... More

Black Forest Pub in now under new ownership (again) but this time its a winner. It never was bad, but now it's great. Everything is great, the fish fry is wonderful and the side dishes are authentic german food. I'm not a big fan of german food but easily found pleny to eat. The portions are good and the prices...
