After visiting all the high profile and advertised restaurants in the county we found this jewel. The food is made from scratch and to order. The corn beef hash and pancakes are. Absolutely the best. There is a reason that the locals eat here. Great quality and value...

We recently visited DC and stayed in Sturgeon Bay. One night, we were too tired to do anything fancy for dinner, and we decided to try something close to our rental. Enter: Hot Tamales. We went to this little--dare I say, divey?--place after looking on Yelp. The reviews said the food was good, but the service was terrible. They were... More

While the servers were friendly, the food was not very good and was horribly overpriced. I actually debated leaving upon seeing the prices on the menu, but the kids were hungry. Two tacos were $10! Our bill (for 3 kids under 13 and one adult) with no drinks was close to $50. Literally, it was the most expensive Mexican food... More

We were welcomed with service that made us feel really welcome! The food tasted really great, and the portions were really generous, which well compensated for the price. The decor was a bit quirky. Though the fried ice cream is probably the best I have had to date. We will return here next time we're in the area. Highly recommended!

Six of us went in for dinner on a Sunday night, about 30 minutes before they were scheduled to close. Our waitress was funny and sassy (we loved it) and she was also quick to check on our drinks and chips/salsa. Our portions were large and tasty. We will return!

We had tried to go to this establishment on more than one occasion and they were not open or had closed early. We finally found them open and decided to give it a try , we walked in and there were two big parties already eating and the only table available for us to sit at had only two chairs... More

We went to Hot Tamales for breakfast in April. We had a table of 7. The service was excellent and everyone's order was outstanding! The portions are HUGE! The breakfast burritos are amazing as is the corned beef hash. Everything is made fresh and to order. Great hot sauces! We really enjoyed our meal here and the exceptional service. Several... More

Great red chile..enchiladas..mole and burritos and carne. Salsa is fresh and just right..every bit as good as that at the T House. Great breakfast burritos with green and mexican burritos. Plus for those non SW breakfast eaters home made corned beef hash. Outstanding food, fresh and outstanding preparation. A must do if you are in door county

Oct 11 2013 Lunch: Enchiladas (1 Cheese 1 Shredded beef) I enjoyed my lunch at Hot Tamales on Oak St. near the Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay. The atmosphere was friendly as were the other patrons I encountered. My enchiladas were hot and tasty. There could have been less lettuce and more beans on the plate. The shredded beef was... More
