We were traveling from up north to the cities and were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant rather than a bar and grille open on Sunday. The wait was a little longer but that was due to two large party's bef us. We had the eggs Benedict and breakfast sandwich, both came with potatoes which were very flavorful. The hollandaise... I thought of this market & grill in downtown when my wife said she needed to eat (and she's a gluten free vegetarian!) - it did not disappoint - even my wife mentioned how happy she was with her meal - it can be tough to please a gluten free vegetarian in Northern Wisconsin! Overall a very good meal and... More

This is fine dining with a relaxed twist. The ambience is low key, but the cuisine is definitely top shelf. Amazingly the dinner menu changes weekly, plus they are only open Friday and Saturday for dinner. They are open daily for breakfast and lunch with weekly specials on the lunch menu. They also feature vegetarian and gluten free options. Delicious... More

I pass through Spooner on business once or twice a year and was very surprised to happen upon this gem. Food made from fresh and local ingredients, it is truly a unique experience in central WI. The burritos are my favorite! The owners are friendly and talkative. I make an effort to stop every time I'm in town!

Stopped for lunch and found it to be a quaint place. It almost felt like they ran out of money as there's only half as many tables as they could, but that gives you space! The turkey sandwich was very good, all fresh ingredients and fresh bread. The tomato basil soup was very good and you could tell it's fresh.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch today because all the reviews make it sound great. We were disappointed. Maybe they just had an off day, but it was bad. We didn't even finish what we ordered. We shared a burger which was completely blah, and a burrito which was also blah. Nothing was seasoned. We will try it... More

Located in a quaint old building in downtown Spooner, WI, this place offers the best cooking in the area. The Egg Scramble is outstanding; not all greasy & made with fresh vegetables mixed into the eggs. Lunch & dinner menus are limited but most can be prepared gluten free. A pro chef works here. Order at the counter & your... More

There are only 3-4 entrees on the weekend dinner menu at the Spooner Market and Grill, so just pick one at random---you can't go wrong. There's a lot to look at (art for sale, books, etc), so you'll almost be disappointed when your salad arrives. You'll barely be finished with it when your entree is served, piping hot and lovingly... When Harvard-English-major-turned-chef Betsy abandoned the corporate world for the northwoods, it was Chicago's loss and Spooner's gain. Weekend dinners are where this place really shines. Betsy's menus are creative and inventive, with three or four entrees to choose from (in addition to the daily menu of sandwiches, burgers, etc.) Betsy uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Her creations are always... More
