While in the area for biking, we ate twice at Ginny's.. We really enjoyed the chicken chili, which you can order in various ounce sizes--I think it was 8, 12, 16, and 20 ounces. We liked it so much that we had it both times we were there. We also enjoyed a great caramel/pecan roll along with one of the... More

We heard good things about this place so we scoped it out. We liked the nostalgic decor that lined the walls. We came in and sat down at a table. The server brought water in a timely manner. He took our order, we ordered the special of the day and root beer floats. A different guy brought the meal and... More

Brought some visiting family here for lunch while on a walk in Sparta. A bit slow -- we got there during a rush, but servers managed pretty well. Our group had a reuben, chix salad sandwich (on veggie bread which is their best), roast beef sandwich and mac n cheese (Kraft), a shake and a banana split. Food came surprisingly... More

I was part of a group of four biking the Elroy-Sparta trail, that had lunch at Ginny's. it's a soda fountain with old-time shakes, malts, phosphates and soda pop, and with a selection of sandwiches, panini, soups and more, plus some great desserts. Recommended to us by proprietor of Amil's B&B in Wilton, Ginny's is a good place to break... More

It is not a "normal" cafe. It has a few sandwiches, and or the same sandwich as a panini. So no burgers, staple cafe fare. The atmosphere is nostalgic... Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal + soup. On the other hand my soup was cold, and Ruben was mehhh.

If you want great tasting food, a fun, laid back atmosphere, and small-town, unique dining experience, be sure to eat at Ginny's. The first time I stopped in Sparta (13 years ago), I asked some locals where would be a good, local diner to eat lunch. They didn't know! I ate at Subway. So, I'm here to tell you to... More

Turns out this place was just as described on Tripadvisor. Home cooked food, ice cream and soda bar and a laid back atmosphere. If you're in a hurry, this place is not for you! Home made soup is good and the sandwiches were fresh and tasty. Don't look for a check to be brought to the table as everyone just... More

The ice cream shop is a very unique place to explore. My husband and I shared a malt that was huge!! It's a must if you are visiting Sparta!!

We stopped in on a late summer afternoon. And waited and waited and waited. We seated ourselves in the very cute diner type country setting and were willing to wait. But they never got to us, so we had to leave. No pipes were burst, no fires, no general excuse. Just too busy I guess. Disappointed.

We stopped at Ginny's for lunch. Loved it so much we had to make it a priority stop on our return trip!
