Goats on the Roof

Always a wonderful breakfast! Kids never get tired of looking for the goats on the roof. Cute shop too.

The total experience of eating at a Swedish Restaurant is just plan fun. From the Swedish Pancakes, longenberries and meatballs to the best kept secret in Sister Bay, their Hamburgers, it's great.

The Swedish pancakes and other breakfast dishes are yummy. Lunch and dinner items are ordinary at best.

We love to go to Al Johnson's when we are in Door County. It is located in Sister Bay (the quite side of the peninsula) because of the wonderful Swedish food. I always have Swedish pancakes with lingonberries and my husband loves the traditional breakfast fare. Be prepared to wait as this is one of the most popular restaurants in... More

Out of this world morning experience....imagine Swedish pancakes topped with whipped cream and strawberries, with a side of Swedish meatballs to start your day, or a traditional plate of eggs, hash browns, and toast spread with lingonberry preserves. We enjoyed not only our food, but also the dining room and server decked out in Swedish fashion. Don't miss this place!

My mother and father were friends with Al Johnson and his wife Ingert way back in the 1950s. As a child we would dine at his, then, diner or very small little joynt. Slowly over time it grew and Ingert opened her boutique. So much of my childhood, and the early years of Door County are tied up in this... More

Of course at this time of the year there are no goats on the roof, but the dining experience was pleasant none the less. We had a corner table by the window so my spouse had a great view of the goings-on in winter time Sister Bay. The meal was good. She had the BLT just as she likes it... More

Al Johnson's signature Swedish Pancakes and Swedish Meatballs are a "must" breakfast experience in Door County. Plenty of Swedish Decor including costumed wait staff. Usually packed, especially in season and/or on weekends, so be prepared to wait a few minutes to be seated. Food is "good and plenty" and service very good once you are seated. Lunch/dinner menu looks very... More

You won't be disappointed by the Swedish pancakes with lots of lingonberries. You will love the waitresses, and if are there in winter, you should not have to cope with the long lines, although one can usually get a seat at the counter. There are lots of choices on their extensive menu, and you definitely will not go away hungry.... More

OK, if you go to DC you have to go here at least once for the pancakes.....thin and lacy with lingenberry jam! OH my! OK, so you don't like the fare...go anyway to say you have...the goats on the roof ( in warmer months) is a great "look-see" for all ages!
