We enjoyed the best fish (perch) of our visit to Door County here. Lots of menu choices and a fun atmosphere. Nice gift shop with many Swedish themed items. Friendly staff and good service.

If you are looking for traditional Swedish food, don't go to Al Johnson's! The Swedish meatballs are heavy and large. The exact opposite of traditional meatballs. I expected to potato sausage, and cabbage rolls and delicate pastries, but what we found on the menu was "family restaurant fare". And to boot we were so crammed in that you felt like... More

We went early on a weekday night. We have not seen the goats out for the whole week we were here. The tables are smashed so tight together that you are sitting in your neighbor's lap. My spouse is Swedish and says there were only a couple of Swedish items on menu. We had Swedish meatballs which were okay. First... More

The goats are awesome and the food is amazing. I don't think there's much more to say! The Swedish pancakes with lignonberries was delicious, though I don't think anything could top their Swedish meatballs! Definitely go with the breakfast food and try the actual Swedish items. That's where the quality is at!

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at this restaurant. Three of the five of us ordered Swedish meals and were thrilled with the results. I had to break the news to my mom and husband that they had the best mashed potatoes I had ever eaten. A great restaurant for the whole family!

Surprisingly we were seated right away for dinner. they had a great menu. I decided on the Salmon, which tasted a little old. This isn't unusual though. Most restaurants don't serve salmon fresh. The wait staff were Super friendly and we had good service. We missed the goats though:(

They have 4 goats on the roof top! We couldn't believe it, but we saw it and I took many photos. People come from all over to see the goats munching grass on Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant. The place is extremely busy. They do not take reservations. The Swedish pancakes are the best. Their coffee is delish! Service is outstanding.... More

I try and visit Al Johnson's for breakfast or brunch whenever I'm in Door County. Yes, it has the "tourist" feel to it (the goats on the roof, the Sweedish dresses worn by the staff, the gift shop), but I also really enjoy their food. I always get the Sweedish Pancake Special (Sweedish pancakes, eggs, Sweedish meatballs) and really enjoy... More

While in the area my husband and I just had to make sure we ate here. There really is live goats up on their sod roof, enjoying the sunshine. They are a tourist attraction on their own, but the restaurant is also very rustic and beautiful inside. There is also a gift shop with authentic swedish collectibles, food, ect. I wanted... More

We ate here once on vacation. The goats on the grass roof were a hoot. Food was good and the service was good as well.
