Interesting restaurant best known for goats grazing on the roof! Offers a variety of menu items with some Swedish specialities. Breakfast, including Swedish pancakes, served all day. We had breakfast for dinner with the Swedish pancakes served with Ligon berries, Swedish meatballs, eggs, etc. It was very good. Servers have cute Swedish outfits. There is a very nice gift shop.

This is a very cool place with traditionally dressed wait staff and an ethnic Northern European menu. Open early for breakfast, the food is awesome! There is an attached gift/clothes shop. And don't forget to check out the grass roof with grazing goats! Awesome place, highly recommend.

My husband and I went to Al Johnsins for dinner. I ordered the Swedish meatballs and thee were wonderful with the mashed potatoes. Husband ordered the hot beef plate. The meat was very grissely he could not eat more than half of it. I am giving a 4 star because the meatballs were very good and the restaurant is traditional.... More

I had heard about this place, with its goats feeding on the grass-covered roof. So we stopped, but we arrived about 7:45pm on a Tuesday, close to closing time (8pm). The day had been cool (50-60 degrees) and windy, so they "gave the goats the day off," which was fine. The goats are usually on the roof during daytime from... More

This about my 4th time eating breakfast here. The crepes are must have! Great service. The grass covered roof is quite unique and if you time it right you'll get to see the goats on the roof "mowing" the grass.

Goats on the roof is certainly a show stopper, but the inside of the restaurant is also memorial. It's a Swedish themed eatery with a very tasty menu. Their breakfasts are excellent. The Swedish pancakes are thin & heavy & covered with fruit of your choice. Swedish meatballs are a must & can be had anytime. Their gift shop is... More

I want to like Al Johnsons. I really do. We had many delicious meals there growing up. But what I ate on this visit (Swedish meatballs) was not good. And our server was extra not good. I think he was trying very hard, but it was, seemingly, his first night, and after three requests, he still forgot milk for my... More

OUr family is Scandinavian by ancestry--so we thoroughly enjoy the environment AND the food! Everyone in our party of 10 cleaned their plates--that's a good sign!!
