We arrived at a busy time on a Sunday morning. Despite the number of people our group of 7 was seated quickly. The server was very attentive. The meatballs were great. Plenty of food. The two year olds were impressed with the special bathroom facilities that were just their size. The gift shop was interesting but not with toddlers. I... More

After a short wait on a busy weekend, we were served by a very courteous and helpful young man. The food was good, and the outdoor scenery with the goats on the roof was fun too.

We have been going to Al Johnson's for years, every time we are in Door County, we find a way to make it up here for dinner, spring, summer, fall and winter. Swedish pancakes are a no brainier for dinner, they are the best I've ever had. There is a lot going on for such a simple dish, square, chewy,... More

My husband and I had breakfast here on a Sat morning. We got there at 8:30 and missed the crowd. No goats out as it was quite chilly. I had the Swedish pancakes with lingonberries and enjoyed them. Our waitress was pleasant. A little pricey.

While we expected to wait some during high season, it was about an hour for a party of two. I could have forgiven that, but the Swedish pancakes were rubbery and the meatballs were salty. It was so loud we couldn't talk and I felt like a sardine because the tables are so close together. The service was ok.. but... More

This was a nice visit. The Swedish meatballs were quite tasty. It was served with lingonberry jam/sauce and a limpa bread and Sedish cracker tray, so we got to try the lingonberries. It also came with soup or salad, mashed potatoes and veggies. There is a gift shop on the premises, and sometimes there are goats on the grass roof!... More

Had a nice dinner here some twenty years ago, and also remembered the sod roof with the grazing goats. Stopped here to show our son, who is traveling with us, but alas, no goats. Apparently they don't let them out unless the weather is nice, which it wasn't. I ordered the Homemade Pickled Herring Plate, since I'm a pickled herring... More

The roof of the restaurant is covered with grass. They have goats up on the roof! The food was very ordinary, though. I would suggest that you wlak by this restaurant just to see it, but eat elsewhere.
