Door County Gem!

We stop here everytime we are in town. I have been coming here since I was a small child & loved it as much then as I do now. I recommend the sweedish pancake special. You get eggs, choice of meat (sweedish meatballs) & pancakes. I think it is the best deal on the menu!

We have visited Al Johnson's for breakfast every year for about the last 20 years. The children, and now the grandchildren like to see the goats on the roof. The food is always good and unchanged. However, this year we noticed that the carpeting is also unchanged. It looked spotted and dirty and it made our meal a little unappetizing... More

Everyone in our party, recently enjoyed the specialty of swedish pancakes at Al Johnson's. Plan on getting there early during weekends especially. They tend to be very busy.

Never disappointed by the place with goats on the roof! Al Johnson's is a stellar place for great breakfast food! Pancakes, Swedish meatballs, and eggs are all great plus their lingonberry sauce. Waitress make you feel at home and are always kind. Never change Al Johnson's

We enjoyed a nice breakfast here- the service was excellent and the food came right away- which was surprising since the place was packed with a 20 minute wait before 9 am, so plan ahead and enjoy some great Swedish food treats!

What is more awesome than a roof covered in grass? A roof covered in grass with goats on eat eating the grass! And throw in some awesome pancakes too. Fun for families.

Al Johnson's is all about the goats on the roof. The food is mostly decent, the service is very good, and the Swedish atmosphere is pleasant. Without the goats, however, it would just be another nice place to eat. The goats were a brilliant marketing stunt by the late Al Johnson. The food is carefully prepared and nicely presented. I've... With a group of about 40 people in town for a motor coach rally, my husband and I had dinner here at 5:00 PM on a Sunday night. There's a huge amount of self-parking available. Of course, we looked for the goats grazing in the grass-covered roof and saw four of them. The outside of Al Johnson's displays quaint carved... More

Yes, it is different and the goats on the roof may be something for the kids. But we waited for over an hour for breakfast which was NOT special. The food was just ok. The famous Swedish meatballs were not as good as served elsewhere. Very busy. Just not worth the effort. look at the goats, peek in to the... More

Last week I revisited one of my favorite childhood restaurants that only had good memories, Al Johnson's, with the goats of the roof. Incredible, they are still there, and everyone loves looking at them. Of course there was a wait, it is mid-July, but their Butik (store)sure kept us busy while waiting. Most of the items are actually made in... More
