Service prompt but less than friendly. Steak & shrimp just ok, mashed potatoes out of a box. Salad out of a bag, not fresh, with a few slices of under-ripe tomato and small croutons. Cinnamon roll dried out, very disappointing after reading all the other reviews. Someone else ordered a shake which looked good, chef salad had adequate meat &... More

I grew up about 7 miles from this place and even though it has changes hands over the years they have real potato pancakes and they fry them perfect. But you have to go early before they run out or they stop making them at 1100AM. They serve them with applesauce and sausage links Then why not finish off with... More

We found this restaurant online. My boyfriend and I love a classic diner and Leystra's did not disappoint. Their baked goods are out of this world! He ordered a cinnamon roll that was enormous and melt in your mouth delicious. The prices were economical and the food was tasty. This is not a fancy place but it is warm and... More

Been coming here for many years. Food is great; service excellent. Love being greeted by a waitress bringing coffee before I sit down. The desserts are amazing. Even when we go for breakfast they ask if we want dessert. Many times we take a slice or two of pie home for later. Once I tried their biscuits and gravy I... More

Leystra's has the best breakfast in the area. Sausage is local and delicious and eggs well prepared. Services is very good and the place is kept very clean. Definitely worth a stop!

There were 3 of us that were staying in the area to do some eagle watching and had breakfast both days here. Food was fresh and excellent. Bakery items were for sale and we purchased cinnamon rolls for the road. They were large and excellent. Would gladly come back here and view them better than a Perkins or other chain... More

Our family was wanting to visit another Sauk City restaurant for dinner but they had an hour wait - went down the street to Leystra's and were able to be seated and served quickly. Menu was what I would describe as "home cooking". We were 7 adults and 4 children. Three of the adults had the country fried steak which... More

We make Leystra's our regular meeting place when preparing for a weekend of canoeing the Wisconsin River. The lunch has always been good, especially the fried fish. This time I had chicken salad on homemade wheat bread. Very tasty. All the meals seemed plentiful and were declared "good". They offered a variety of homemade desserts. We split a slice of... More

Stopped by Leystra's after seeing a lot of cars around the place. Glad we did. The special open-faced roast beef and mashed potatoes were excellent. The kids ordered hamburgers, which they said were among the best they've ever eaten. My daughter had fish and chips, which were quite good, although not great. We all shared and greatly enjoyed the butterscotch... More
