They closed down, it didn't last long. Food wasn't good, not too fresh tasting. The place is a great location and up for rent!

The Sombrero House is not a chain - and thus is a good and different option in Portage! Good Mexican food. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The space is comfortable - small but room enough in an old cream city brick house. My only complaint is that the menu is pretty limited - burritos and a few other offerings.... More

I love Mexican food. Love might not be a strong enough word in my case. I have my favorite places that I go to regularly. The reason why I go to these places is because the meats, veggies, and toppings are all fresh and flavorful. Sombreros Burrito house should take notes. Steak or Carne Asada should be steak. The last... More

This restaurant provided the ideal dinner for my man-cation. Be sure to ask for "heat" if you like it spicy. Really enjoyed this burrito!

For a small town, this is good food. It may not be authentic, but it is filling and savory. The staff is very friendly and I appreciate the delivery service when I am stuck at home in the snow or if it is during my kid's naptime. I feel good about supporting a local family business.

Ya know, I read these other reviews...and for some of them it's...WOW! Really? C'mon folks. This is Portage, WI. Not Austin, TX...or San Antonio...or Chicago...or...wait for it...MEXICO! It's Portgage, WI. and I think these folks that own this establishment bend over backwards to bring a little ethnicity into the community. The burritos are huge. Can't say that anywhere else that... Everything, and I mean everything is precooked. Beans, rice, all meat.....The only thing that is fresh are the veggies that go on the burritos. Done eat there. Staff was nice but food is a no go! They need to stop precooking everything and make foods fresh. There are no fish, salmon or shrimp on the menu either. Blah

the food is good and I will visit again there are only 2 things that hurt my rating. When you walk in the door you are promptly greeted with a "Hi Welcome Home" it made me feel extremely creeped out. Also the size of the menu leaves a bit to be desired.

The food is good, and at reasonable prices. The only drawback is that the cook got several orders wrong and this place isn't fast food, so it takes a while to get a plate corrected.

We brought in a group of 28 for dinner from a campground and the service, food, and decor was awesome. Will be stopping after skiing this winter!
