Good Food, Good Drink

My wife and I tried this restaurant on a random chosing one evening. We were not disappointed. The man behind the bar (perhaps the owner) was very strange and created an unnecessary awkward moment; that is the only negative thing we endured. The food was good, moderately priced. They do make a... read more

We decided to try something different for our Friday fish restaurant. Well different is what we found and I'm glad we did! Fabulous atmosphere beautifully decorated with a wine flair, right down to the table candles (oil lights in wine bottles). All you can eat fish; we chose baked and battered. The batter was great-light, whipped, nothing heavy or oily... More

We had been for a cruising Saturday. It was a top down day for sure. Bright sun and comfortable humidity. We and our friends decided to make a whole day of joy riding. After a pleasant day, we decided to try Mary Cody's. The place is very clean and well appointed. Service was prompt and the server could not have... More

My husband and I recently attended the Pub Dinner at Mary Cody's and what a treat! The dinner was for reserved patrons only, not open to the public, so we got the undivided attention of the staff, Mary and her wine specialist, Jeffrey, who is a native of Wales. He introduced each course with his knowledgable pairings of beer and... More

My wife and I had not been to Maggie's in a couple of years because of previous bad experiences. Tonight was no better. We started with a drink order. My wife asked for a hard apple cider, the server said all they had was apple beer (Angry Orchard). I ordered Canadian Club and water, she tried to bring me brandy.... More

Visited Maggies for their Friday night all-you-can-eat fish fry and got a good dinner at a reasonable price. My wife, on the other hand ordered Chicken Marsala which was only average and over-priced. While our server was very friendly, the service was slow. I had to waited quite some time (5+ minutes) for a second helping of batter-fried cod. Lastly,... More

Stopped last evening for the special: buy 2 appetizers, get a bottle (full size) of wine. Love the crab cakes...they're the best! Nachos were OK....and the wine was very nice. After the appetizers, we split a main course of stroganoff...nicely prepared with a perfect salad wiith a great balsamic vinegar reduction. I have to say, between the chef and great... More

Very Good Menu to select from, and the food was great. The service, extremely helpful and well versed. Nice little bar, gracious bartender and the drinks were exceptional. The bartender was a blonde lady, she knew how to serve the drinks and especially the wines. Nice assortment of wines, top shelf. If traveling through Onalaska, it is worth the stop.

My husband and I thought we'd take a chance on this place for and were very disappointed. I had the three-cheese grilled cheese and cup of chili. The chili was horrible, straight out of the can. The grilled cheese was fine, but there was nothing special about it. Ended up spending $12 on a grilled cheese and inedible chili. My... More
