It was 1974 when our country had its first gas crisis. The price of gasoline was skyrocketing, gas stations were closing nationwide, and carmakers began exploring how to develop cars that got better mileage.

But for George "Jig" Warren III and Gary "Moe" Meszaros, it wasn't about better mileage or for that matter even obeying the new 55 M.P.H speed limit. It was about finding a home to preserve the culture of those old gas stations and high-powered muscle cars.

So was born Quaker Steak & Lube(R), a "Cook Your Own Steak" restaurant that gave old muscle cars a permanent home, which included a 1936 Chevrolet, frozen in time on the original hydraulic grease rack.

It is from these beginnings that the Quaker Steak & Lube(R) family of restaurants began. Today, "The Lube(R)" serves over 80 million wings annually, has bottled sauces for retail sale, has won the title of "Best Wings USA," and has hundreds of local, national, and international awards for their sauce recipes. Over 60 locations throughout the United States and Canada, "The Lube(R)" is still rescuing muscle cars, vintage cars, trucks and a vast selection of custom and antique motorcycles, giving them good homes hanging from the walls and ceilings in each restaurant.

They were open Christmas Eve, Thank You!

Just as we were about to give up finding anything to eat on Christmas Eve, we found Quaker Steak and Lube. My son ordered some medium strength hot wings, while the rest of us opted for standard items on the much milder side. Service was reasonably fast, but honestly, the part I liked best was... read more

After arriving with my 3 kids, and standing in a small line to be seated, the host walked away without acknowledging us. He came back shortly and took us to a table, without asking our preference and tossed the menus down and left. I was then forced to search around for my own booster seat for my 2 year old.... More

I have only eaten here once as I just didn't care for it. I personally didn't like the breading or sauce that was on the wings. I got my order to go and ordered 24 wings and when I got home there was only 1 little container of blue cheese. I told them to give me more than that, I... More

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express near I-43 and this great place to eat was across the street. The hotel guy said we'd get 10 percent off by showing them our key and we would love the food and beer. He was right. I loved the fish and chips with a beer and my wife had a great... More

Stayed next to this place for a week on business, went there almost every night. The food was good, lots of it and great prices. I would definitely recommend.

I actually rather enjoyed my 'healthy option' meal here, but our whole table was surprised when the bill came and we'd all been charged $.99 for the 'extra' sauces which our waitperson offered us. Of course, $.99 isn't much, but we all felt that we should have been informed at the time of ordering. The charge appears on the menu,... More

How many times are you going to go to a place that has a poor presentation of what can be great food? How many times are you going to put up with rude &/or inattentive service? I've been to great QS&L restaurants in other parts of the country and they are great and fun places to go. This is not... More

The moment I sat down I felt like it was a bother to the bartender Austin. Most obvious she does not care for her job. Possibly because of dressing like Minnie Mouse. No interaction with anyone. Efficient but guests are a bother. Fish Taco sliders great value nice and spicy good presentation, today the soup was tomato basil fantastic!!! Great... More

This place is definitely known for their chicken dishes and sauces that are rated on a scale of very very mild (boring) to (bring in the fire department)hot and spicy. They do have many other selections that are sure to please. They offer a great Bloody Mary Bar where you can top off the drink with your own creation of... More

We stopped in for the first time while out biking fall colors. I thought the name would suggest more steak items, but that would be wrong. It's a good sandwich place and also has great wings. I was looking forward to a good ribeye sandwich, but none to be found. Kind of weird, since its name would suggest it. Otherwise,... More
