Hubs and I bundled up and hopped the cycles for a late season ride up Hwy 35 from La Crosse to Nelson, the Creamery being our destination. It was a lovely fall day so the place was packed, of course, which makes it tricky to get around and see much of the cheeses and other wares for sale. We made... More

We visited on Friday, September 26, 2014 at noon. We last visited here a few years ago and we were disappointed at that time with the service, it was so, so slow. This time we ordered two sandwiches at the check out register and went to sit on the outdoor patio. Our food arrived very promptly and the orders were... More

We recently stopped at the Nelson Cheese Factory on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The store has many Wisconsin food items to purchase, but they did not make their own cheese. The sandwiches and soups were tasty for the price, but the staff made our lunch disappointing. Cheer up, staff! Act like you're glad we stopped in and make us want... More

We were pleasantly surprised by this deli/restaurant/winebar/icecreamery in the very small town of Nelson, Wisconsin on the Mississippi (finally got to spell it!) River. It used to be a creamery and still has a huge milk storage vat as a non-functioning reminder of its past days. There is a large selection of cheeses, some of which actually come from Wisconsin.... This is a small town type cheese shop, wine bar, sandwich shop and even live music on occasion. Oh yes they is hand dipped ice cream to finish it off or maybe the starting point, you choose. If you have not been here before you should stop by, the atmosphere is great and the view is very nice and cozy.... More

It is a tradition we stop at the Nelson Cheese Factory for ice cream every time driving through Nelson, WI. Be prepared for a very longgggg line for ice cream but it moves very quickly so don't turn around and leave!! The cheese curds too are our favorite!! When we stopped this past weekend there was music in the back... More

Meh. No homemade cheese (in Wisconsin people!) and mediocre ice cream supplied by Kemps. The sandwiches were average off the shelf grocery store ingredients, and didn't even utilize readily available artisan bread. Incredibly slow, plus the staff acted like they were doing us a favor by waiting on us...

Always stop on our way past, always great. Aug. 8 2014 was a different story. Ordered 2 soup and sandwich specials and 2 ice cream cones. When they brought the food it was wrong. Told Jody and she was very rude. Told me thats not what it said. She told me that twice. Then said wait and walked away. She... More

I haven't been to this creamery in at least 25 plus years! Beyond surprised by it's growth. I missed the memory of the sterile white and stainless steel of the good ole days; cheese being made, the smell of souring cheese and fresh ice cream. Now it's a memory filled with a wine shop, food, cheeses that fill your dreams,... More

Lunched at the creamery with a couple friends while we vacationed on Lake Pepin. The cheese is legendary. The sandwiches are huge. We really enjoyed the casual atmosphere and great service.
