Average, with a really nice ambiance.

Smallish menu, with only one unique Whitehouse sandwich. Otherwise your typical bar food, churched up to appear like fancy food. Service lagged, given the lack of tables being served. Very limited tap beer and bottle selection. Menu appeared to have a broiled chicken dinner. When it came, it was a... read more

The Polecat and Lace pub and restaurant is absolutely our, our friends, and our families, favorite places to go every time we are up in Minocqua, WI!! The menu is not too big, not too small and everything on it is quite delicious! Lunches and Dinners - The bar is delightful and made to make one feel comfortable - not... More

Minocqua was bursting with tourists the day we visited (as it is all summer long), and this establishment could carve out a successful niche with a little effort - better food, signature dishes, enhanced ambiance, even a little music!?!?. The old building and architectural details make you think it will be something special, but I agree with the reviewer who... More

We went on the spur of the moment. We were not impressed. The food was not good and way overpriced. I got the Chicken Continental and it was two pieces of breaded fried chicken with one piece of mozzarella cheese and a tomato. Very small portion and no flavor. Staff was friendly but couldn't overcome the food. We won't be... More

This place seemed to be filled with regulars, many of who knew the servers by name. It feels very old school here, with a menu of old standards. My steak was cooked properly, but strangely flavorless. The salad croutons were a high point, which pretty much sums it up.

The food seemed like it literally went from the freezer to the deep fryer. Workers were all super nice & I feel bad saying it but food was bad. Reminded me of a 1970's super club decor inside.

We had lunch at Polecat and was surprised by this little place. We had four different meals ranging from salads to a fish dinner. All was very good. Service was not the fastest, but adequate. Just good home cooked meals.

Do NOT eat here. Our waitress was in a terrible mood and apparently our presence was an inconvenience to her. I asked a question about the item I was ordering and she was visibly annoyed. My drink wasn't refilled until the end of our meal. I had to ask a different waitress to run our check - she wouldn't -... More

Kind of wished I had kept the "no visiting" streak going. I'm not sure why we never tried this restaurant before, but somehow it just never ended up on our "where should be eat tonight?" list. On Friday, my husband and I walked by and decided to duck in when it started raining. An older woman came to greet us... More
