Blackened Grouper Sandwich ...

If you want to hang out on the water and have a blackened grouper sandwich, join friends or meet new ones The Whale is the place to be. The Whale is an Icon and stands up to everything it purports to be but is not for everyone as it does become the Hub of activity either during ski shows or... read more

Place is right on the lake. We rode snowmobile there. Was very busy but we still had prompt service by a cheerful staff. Will always recommend the Thirsty Whale!

been here before snowmobiling in minoqua. have always stopped here for a drink, but it seems like every year, there prices are getting a little higher, the drinks are priced a little higher than alot of the surrounding bars, and the food too. we ordered a sandwich with frys and it was over $11. really not worth it, the other... The Thirsty Whale is always a place to go in the summer months! Right on the water and they have good drinks! Last summer we had them in buckets. Rum drinks in buckets is an excellent idea!! The food is good, but I go more for the view of the lake and drinks. Good place to stop by.

There were tons of snowmobiles parked in front of the Thirsty Whale this past weekend. I was sure we were going to have to wait to get seated. We were seated within minutes. The service was also very fast for how many people were there! The food was good and tasted fresh.

TVs, games, burgers and such seem to be the main attraction but there is a dining area for us older folks who want to eat and talk and enjoy a quiet dinner. Menu limited but full of great surprises and terrific value for your dollars.

The food is typical of any small diner on a lake. I had the perch po boy and wasn't overly impressed. The fish seemed to be a bit overcooked and dried out. The spinich dip was heavenly however. The chicken sandwiches looked much better than the fish.

I ate here recently and was very disappointed with the food. I had a chicken sandwich with swiss and mushrooms. I told the people I was with that if I had been blindfolded, I'm not sure I would have been able to even tell what I was eating. I thought the food was bland. I did enjoy a cup of... More

It is right on Lake Minocqua and you can get to it by boat or car. It is only two blocks from downtown. Sandwiches are very good and staff was helpful. Not there at night but seemed it would a happening spot at night with music in season.

This place has one of the most amazing settings right on Lake Minocqua! Absolutely beautiful view from every direction! Lots a places to dock if you come by boat and just a hop skip and a jump from downtown if you want to go take a gander! Good food too!
