Elsa's on the Park--Good Food--Arrogant Waiter

Decided we all wanted a burger and knew Elsa's would deliver. It had been years since we've been there and knew the food never disappointed. Husband chose the Mac (1/3 lb of meat with cheese, special sauce, lettuce and tomato) $14 and daughter and I decided on just the Cheeseburger (1/4 lb meat... read more

A couple of out-of-town friends were staying at the Intercontinental Hotel in Milwaukee. The cocktail waitress suggested Elsa's when we asked for a recommendation for dinner. We were seated immediately on a Friday night at 9:00. Unfortunately that's the only positive thing I can say about our experience. We ordered drinks and a bit later we all ordered dinner. Some... I know I know....you go for the food....burgers are excellent. BUT could not get past the really disturbing "art" work on the walls. EYES - yes, as in eyeballs - of all colors watching, moving everywhere. And not just a few....many of them along the wall in full motion watching you. It was so disgusting we almost left. I realize... More

Elsa's is a nice more upscale restaurant with typical American fare but dressed up. We each ordered a burger and they were both quite good and like nothing we'd ever tried before.

Only had to ask for a second glass of soda three times . . . On top of that the burgers are decent, but nowhere near worth the price. Also, when we were there they had 50 eyeballs staring at you on the wall . . . not exactly inviting. Clearly a blurred attempt at a hip artsy burger joint,... More

I know, how can you be casual and formal at the same time? The menu is casual and relatively inexpensive, however, the staff is formally dressed (maybe a little formal in presentation as well), music is classical and it's a quiet little restaurant. Modern: tall glass windows, lots of white, lots of light. Food is very good. It's a nice... More

Last time I was here was 20 years ago!!! It was MUCH better back then! The ambiance is great, but the food selection was weird and didn't match the overall vibe of the place. I ordered the Ahi Tuna, the tuna was the poorest cut I have had next to canned tuna! YUCK!!! Dessert was good, but key lime pie... More

I've been visiting Elsa's since 1985, and it's been a favorite of mine for 30 years. The ambiance, the decor, the location, all these make Elsa's a great place that stands out in Milwaukee. Their Nacho's are the first thing I go for. The Burgers are fantastic and they do a great job with drinks as well.

I'll keep it simple. Pros: Nicely made drinks. Cons: Insanely slow kitchen service, Creepy Rotating Eyeballs, sorry, this isn't LA, Rude Bartenders, sorry, don't give me an attitude if I want a Brandy Alexander.
