Hinterland...A new hub for contemporary American cuisine in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Executive Chef Dan Van Rite and Sous Chef Dan Turek, explore a multicultural approach to cooking and eating. Their journey to create bold flavors and uncommon pairings is a daily mission at Hinterland. In order to accomplish this sojourn, we've partnered with fisherman in Honolulu, Seattle and Portland, Maine. These partnerships allow our chefs to procure fresh fish as often as two times a day. Other relationships with small, local growers and ranchers allow us to provide our customers with extraordinary game as well as hand foraged mushrooms and heirloom produce. The result is a menu that evolves with every season and changes everyday.

Would Give 3.5 if I Could...

Had dinner here last Friday night with another couple and their 2 girls (aged 1.5 and 3). Understanding that this isn't a place for kids, we were seated in the back corner near the kitchen, which was just fine. The waitstaff seemed unaccustomed to having children there, but overall I think did just... read more

Made reservation over month ago, but restaurant did not have it. Way too expensive for pork roast, portions very small, menu very limited and ala carte. I would not recommend HInterland Erie for dinner. The web site was not accurate with menu.

My wife and I dine out a lot.....I mean a lot! We have heard of Hinterland but never visiting due to mixed reviews that Ive read on Tripadvisor. Well, we received a gift card to Hinterland for Christmas from some friends so we decided to give it a try. From the time we walked in the door we were really... More

We came here for dinner before a play at the Broadway Theatre Center. We had not been here for a while, so we decided to try it again. We had reservations so we were seated promptly. We started with a hamachi crudo, mixed greens and sauteed brussels sprouts. For main dishes, we had sturgeon and pork loin. The food was... More

We've been trying to dine all over Milwaukee for the past year and decided to give Hinterland a try. Their beers were great and the service was very good as well. The food was excellent; however it was a little overpriced. The portion sizes were a little smaller than expected. We didn't leave hungry but also not completely full. Compared... More

Interesting, reasonably priced and varied wine list at a brew pub. Started with cheese plate and hot dog meatloaf appetizers shared by the table. Meatloaf was terrific. The duck entree was perfectly done but the bread pudding a little dry. Great service and funky atmosphere

We stopped here and had the Quail from the small plates menu and shared the Antelope as an entree. Both were just incredible! The antelope was very tender and just delicious. I will be back.

Tried a couple of their beers and had their cheese and charcuterie tray. Beers were pretty good. IPA I had was a grapefruit bomb on the nose, but the IBU's had to be fairly light. Body wasn't quite as firm as I expected based on nose, but it wasn't bad. I have recently enjoyed fantastic charcuterie trays in Omaha (Brix)... More

Bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. Drinks are amazing. Limited on food but it didn't matter because we only came for drinks. Very romantic atmosphere.

Wonderful spot! We had elk, pork loin, a charcuterie plate, hangar steak, a duck breast. Great flavors. Knowledgeable staff as well.
