A fun birthday celebration

We went to this restaurant for my son’s birthday per his choice. It really was a good choice. It’s a small place on the Milwaukee east side. We could have been seated at a table but chose to sit in chairs around a basket type stand on which our large tray with food was placed. We ate with our... read more

We really wanted to like this restaurant, but we're dearly disappointed by food quality and quantity of the dinner combo for two. Not enough food for two very slender women, that says a lot. At $34 for two pieces of meager drumsticks, a handful of 'steak tartare' (aka minced meat) and a few slivers of stew with the potatoes, a... More

My husband and I shared one of the combo platters for two. Each item was better than the last. We had Ethiopian beer with our meal, and our bill was less than $40. Be prepared to eat with your fingers! Super fun place!

The food was delicious! Portions were a little less then what the prices were set at but definitely delicious and definitely, I will return. The honey wine was extremely good and I would love to be able to buy some bottles for home.

Very much enjoyed trying a new type of food. We were full after having one of the combination platters. The traditional way of eating the food is with your hands so be prepared.

You like adventurous dining and eating with your hands? Want some vegetarian food that is not a Boca Burger? Go here! Pleasant, quiet on a Wednesday night, this "family style dining" is a feast! You use the spongy bread to pinch up your food. Mild to wild they can suit the taste of your choosing, including beef, chicken, seafood and... More

First, everything in the restaurant was spotless, from the glassware to the (older) restrooms. The server was attentive and we chose a meat dish and a vegetarian dish to try. The dishes were brought on top of the Ethiopian soft flat bread that is used to eat the meal, although they would bring you flatware if requested. There were extra... More

I went to this restaurant last week when was in MKE. I was initially going to go to the Thai restaurant next door, but it was just doing take outs after 8:30pm. I went into the cottage and was greeted by a very gracious host. We ordered the veggie platter and ybeg tids( lamb cooked with onions and spices). Overall,... More

Ethiopian cottage down on the East Side offers a variety of Ethiopian dishes at decent prices. Plenty of meat and vegetarian choices. The service has been slow at times, but overall the food has been delicious. Give it a try!

We continue to come back for this very authentic cuisine. Their food and presentation is always great. The injera bread makes eating their dishes very enjoyable and we find it a joy to bring friends for their very first try at eating the traditional way.
