Unique place

I've wanted to come here for years and finally have! It's a small place where they jam a lot of tables in. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The corn bread is absolutely amazing! We also had the fried green tomatoes. Not really my thing, but not bad. Apparently they're popular. I had... read more

We had the brisket (very lean), truffle mac n cheese (delish), ribs (1/2 rack and still took some home). We started the dinner with fried green tomatoes which were fine. The oyster, bloody mary shooter was a fun start to the meal. We had the banana, chocolate pie which was just ok for us.The meal was really really good and... More

I make a point of going to Maxie's everyone I visit milwaukee. The shrimp and grits are to die for! The cornbread is also really great. They make a really good mojito too. They recently renovated the upstairs and it looks great. They have really good key lime pie too!

We ate here before a concert downtown. We knew we couldn't get in at a downtown restaurant so close to performance time. This place was great... fun, lively, interesting menu. My husband goes for places with decent beer. So, we were all happy.

Started with fresh oysters, then Frogmore Stew. Service, value and quality are top notch. Every meal was prepared fresh, served at the proper temperature and service people to handle everything from delivering the food to clearing the table in a timely manner

Met some friends 5:30 on a Tue for Happy Hour (ends at 6). I had the peel n eat shrimp and the gumbo --- both very good. Nice glass of syrah. Others had the pumpkin soup and the seafood chowder --- everyone was very satisfied with their choices. Nice thing about having a group is that you get to try... More

We called thirty minutes ahead as suggested in the reviews and got a table right away on a Saturday night. We arrived close to six, but our server got the first drinks in for Happy Hour prices. We really like the corn bread served to satisfy while the meals were being prepared. The meals came quickly and the brisket and... More

I will definitely be back. The food was excellent, came quickly, in generous portions, and an extensive menu. Great bar, great restaurant as a whole and friendly service. Plus extra points for interior decor.
