I have at at the Black Kettle on many occasions with work and with my wife and we have never had a bad experience. From the servers to the bartender Dede who makes the best old fashion ever. We started off with the Portobella and Blue Cheese appetizer that was sent out perfect and the flaming jack cheese. The dish... More

The Black Kettle has the most generous meal in town. We stopped in on a Saturday night and found the place almost empty, usually not a good sign. I'm so glad we stayed! They have an all you can eat prime rib special that won't disappoint. The soup was tasty but a bit salty. The salads are big enough for... More

I recently went to this restaurant with a group of co-workers. It is in an old house with very nice décor. The food was very good; everyone liked their food. The kettle chips were very good. My only complaint is that it was freezing cold in there! And I am a big guy who likes it colder than most people.

On a recent dining experience i enjoyed a wonderful meal with good service, it was when i returned home that evening and discovered my math was not up to the same level. I computed the tip at almost 50% of the bill. I am not cheap but it was obviously an error. I immediately contacted the restaurant with all the... More

The Black Kettle has been around for more than 35 years. It has not been updated in that amount of time in my opinion. It is a more formal dining atmosphere and has been a very successful place for a long time. The food was just so so for lunch as we had sandwiches. The specials sounded really good. A bit... More

I was in Milwaukee a few weeks ago visiting a friend, and he always raved about the Black Kettle Restaurant, so we went for his birthday. I emailed the restaurant for reservations, and I got an immediate response. We started off with the cheesespread with crackers, which was delicious. My friend had the French Onion soup which looked great. The... More

I felt like I was in a time warp when I entered the restaurant... it was just different than what I am used to. The atmosphere is certainly dated and there might have been a bit of a strange odor I adjusted to after my entry but once I was acclimated it was no problem. Kettle chips were great and... More

Really wanted to like this experience. Onion strings were very good, although I rarely eat that sort of thing. The salads were weak, all the steaks were ordered medium rare and came out closer to medium. There were only two occupied tables on a Saturday night, couldn't help but think kitchen nightmares. Really hoped that it would be as good... More

This was most surprising. A small house on a ragged roadway. Inside - a quaint house, wallpaper, fireplace, wood floors, a pub bar. A welcome to join us atmosphere. The dinner I had was excellent. I am NOT a steak eater. This was wonderful. Attention to flavor. It included a salad (or soup) and choice of potato (I had the... More

We ate at the Black Kettle recently on a Friday evening. My wife got salmon and I got their fish fry. For the price, the salmon was just o.k. The fish fry was mixed. The breading was heavy and too sweet. The homemade german potato salad was good. For the price, there are other restaurants in the area that provide... More
