It's Alterra, with a new name, all over town. Great coffee (I don't drink coffee but everyone else comes here for it), tea, scones, breakfast sandwiches, muffins, et al. Keep going. It's warm outside and those tables are available with table service. Now we can bring the dog.

Stopped several times during my time in Milwaukee based on the recommendation of my boyfriend, and I couldn't have been happier with my experiences! The location in an old pump house added a lot of charm to the already beautiful lakefront locale. The coffee was also delicious. They had a good selection of cafe foods, as well as unique t-shirts... Alterra has excellent coffee. Whenever I am in Milwaukee, I make a special trip just to get as much as I can! The food offered in house is also excellent in quality. Great bakery and deli sandwiches, salads, etc. Staff is always friendly and prompt - and the barista even makes latte art for me! Fun place!

Great place, good food, nice area. Great for people watching & breakfast or lunch before hitting beach or frankly anything.

The coffee is great - I've visited several coffee places, and Alterra always is consistent in flavor, quality and service. One thing I appreciate is they give you your coffee without a lid (sometimes with foam art), which is a nice step toward sustainability (lids available if you want them). This location is in a unique re-purposed building. The exposed... More

There are many other Alterra outposts throughout Milwaukee to get their excellent coffee so there is really no need to wait in a line that can stretch for 20-30 minutes to get that coffee here. The location, as others have said, is unique, but not enough to justify the wait times.

This is a wonderful adaptive reuse of a a long desserted building. The coffee is always good and the atmosphere is great.

It's like Starbucks wishes it could be in the way that its honest to who it was and is, without an ounce of corporate in it. It's a cool look, cafe chill feel, great food options to complement a solid range of coffee choices. Very Seattle feel in it and you can tell they care about the quality of product... More

My son and his wife had their first date here, so this coffee shop has always been a special place for our family. When I come to visit them from Denver I always try to get here at least once; this last trip we found ourselves here four or five times for various reasons! It is a fun, relaxing place... More

Built in a 100+ year old pump-house, this is THE place along Milwaukee's wonderful lakefront. The coffee is, of course, wonderful. The Expresso Shakes are so good they defy description. (My carb free wife finished my shake before we'd left the city on the way home and I had to stop and another Alterra to get one for myself.) The... More
