Awesome place!

Randomly chose this place for dinner before a show at the Riverside and we were so happy with our decision. Place had a ton of character and a menu that was a step up from your typical bar menu with lots of great choices. I had some sliders and the buffalo chicken dip, which everyone tried and... read more

The hotel staff recommended this place and we were glad they did. We were in Milwaukee for the weekend and this was by far the best inexpensive food we had downtown. Some very original, tasty sandwiches on the menu for around $10!

Great dinner specials and food was really good. Service was excellent most of the time. Better arrive early. This place fills up quick.

This small pub does not stand out on Michigan, so look for its name on the awning. It has a surprisingly big menu. I had a veggie burger and the spicy vermouth carrots. The carrots are thin-sliced and lightly braised. They were a nice treat.

Visiting and stayed at The Hilton Garden Inn (next door)...it was open late, and we enjoyed drinks, a WONDERFUL Bartender, and awesome music...in "True Milwaukee Hospitality Style!" We enjoyed ourselves immensely! (They made us feel like "regulars") We will be back!

Tried this place for the first time even though we've been long time residents of Milwaukee. (How could we have not known about this gem sooner?) We had a wonderful experience all the way around. Really friendly staff, prompt service. Ambiance was old school and authentic. Food was terrific. We are so happy we came here and we'll definitely return... More

The staff at the Swinging Door made my boyfriend and I feel right at home. We saw the bar from our hotel room at the Hilton and randomly chose it for brunch, so happy we did! Great specials and really cozy historic bar space, with a larger dining room (but we stayed in the bar). Went back the next day... More

Spicy Bohemian or some such sausage sandwich. Others in the group had pasta. All delicious and inexpensive. Excellent.

Glad you like The Spicy Hungarian sausage. It's made at a small local butcher shop in Cudahy, WI. We love it to. Thanks for sharing with us. KC More

When our daughter's friend suggested this place for lunch, I thought she must be mistaken as we came here years before for after work drinks and I didn't think it could possibly be the same place, but. It was and it was great! I had the southwest skillet, my daughter had eggs Benedict and my husband had an egg white... More

Glad you were pleasantly surprised! Shelly and I wanted to keep the history of "The Swingin' Door" going so when we took over in 2010 we added "Exchange" to the name because it first opened as "The Exchange Tavern" in 1933 right at the end of prohibition. We love food. Thanks for leaving us a message and thank your daughter... More

I am a plant base diet person, when I travel it is very hard for me to eat out and I do not like to be in people face with my diet. I visited Milwaukee with my friend and we like to eat nice diner. We started walking and the place from outside looked very inviting but it looked as... More

Thanks for your kind words. My wife is a mostly a plant eater and I am more of a meat eater which helps us to create a menu with different diets in mind. Glad you enjoyed your visit. KC More
