Great place for beer and food on the river

We were visiting family in Milwaukee, and they took us here. I don't usually drink beer, but I felt I should try one in the city known for its beer. Our server recommended one of their own, and I did like it. The burgers were great, and you can't beat the location or interesting building. We sat... read more

Lots of good draft choices, good bar specials, nice people behind the bar. Manages large events well

What a place! We attended a large event here and sampled their extensive beer collection. They had a large variety of unique beer combinations (like a blueberry ale) and the couple we tried were all very good - some of the best craft beer I have had in the area. Dinner was a buffet of mostly fried items (pretzels, wings,... More

Had a late lunch here on a weekend and just loved it. The view of the river from the patio is incredible, and the beer is tasty. Their vegetarian burger was surprisingly delicious, one of the best I've had.

We stumbled on the Ale house while walking along the Milwaukee River in the 3rd ward, they have outside seating with shade or full sun. We enjoyed a few drinks and ate lunch, I tried their version of the Moscow Mule which was very good. I have been to several different Ale House restaurants in various cities and this is... More

We went to the Ale House on the recommendation of our hotel concierge and were not disappointed. There is ample seating on the river and we scored a nice spot in the shade, which still gave us a view of the river traffic. Our server was courteous and efficient, which allowed us to have fun, without worrying about food or... More

Noticed riverside outdoor seating and lots of river boating action so decided to check it out. The 30 minute wait worth it! Our food was GREAT as the service was as well! Milwaukee Cheddar Melt, salmon salad, burgers....all great stuff. Do-over/again will happen with us! Oh! And the biers!

This was our first visit, but we will return next time we are in Milwaukee. Everyone in our party thought their food was very good, the drinks were excellent! Since we weren't familiar with the restaurant we were surprised with the size of the deck on the river. We were able to get on the deck with a short wait... More

We visited Milwaukee for a baseball series this past weekend. Our nephew, who attends Marquette, took us to the Ale House as it is one of his favorite's. There were 7 of us, and we hung around the place for almost 3 hours. It was a good time. We wanted to catch the Brewers/Cardinals game so we stayed inside to... More

We always visit here when we are in Milwaukee for their great selection of beers -- their own is excellent, by the way -- great food and atmosphere. In the winter it's cozy indoors in spite of massive space and high ceilings. And during better weather we really enjoy the deck about three stories above and along the riverside.
