Good Christmas Brunch, but got somewhat harried.

Our family went to Maders for late brunch on Christmas. While it was a bit of a madhouse, the brunch was quite good. Nice variety of both the breakfast and lunch parts of brunch. Waitstaff was hopping. We were there mid afternoon, and by that point the buffets were becoming somewhat messy... read more

We went to Milwaukee for a quick overnight stay. We had a taste for some great beer and headed to Milwaukee. While shopping on Old World 3rd Street, we saw a sign advertising a giant pretzel. So in we went. Plus the building is so cool looking from the street and I've always wanted to stop in, but we were... More

My wife and I came for an early lunch on a cold Saturday, had steins and shared the German sampler. Each item was amazing and very good mit bier. I could not decide if I preferred the weinerschnitzel or the sauerbraten because both were stupendous and full of flavor. The piping hot pretzel roll appetizer starting things on a perfect... More

I have lived in Milwaukee my whole life and I've never been to this restaurant. We tried it tonight before going to an event at the Bradley Center and it was awesome. The waitstaff was very attentive and very friendly. We had a German sampler dinner as well as a chicken dinner with spätzle. We each had an after dinner... More

Mader's has been a long time favorite restaurant in down town Milwaukee for regulars and tourists for over 106+ years! That's a loooong time! I first experienced Mader's when I was a kid, also a looong time ago. My mom flew into Milwaukee to visit a friend and asked if I'd like to drive up and have lunch at Mader's.... More

What an amazing place. This is a historic restaurant having been at this location more than a hundred years! The food is traditional German cuisine, and is it good! The liver dumpling soup was amazing! While I recommend the German sampler, so you can experience more than one dish, anything you order here will be wonderful. The staff was knowledgable... More

I am born and raised in Germany and was told this is the place to be. Food was ok, the Spätzle which are so famous and I was really looking for were not as German as I have know my entire life, but food overall was good. Bit too expensive in my opinion. $30 for a tiny pork Schnitzel is... More

It was our first time in Milwaukee and we had read about Mader's. Walking along 3rd St. there are so many places to go. But we chose Mader's and we really liked it. Pork Shank was delicious. Sauerbrauten was the best! Veal Schnitzel was OK, would not order again.

I visited for the Sunday Brunch. Despite being vegetarian, I had no trouble filling my plate several times over! I have never seen so many creative things done with cheese, and the vegetable offerings were as though they were dishes of their own. The food was tastefully set-out on several tables, and kept piping-hot. There was also an outstanding meat-lovers... More

We also were in on Sunday evening. Cold outside but very comfortable inside. Mary was our server and she did not disappoint use with going out of her way to please us from prompt service to getting everyone over to sing Happy Birthday to my son. Strongly recommend Mader's for a truely German experience.
