Reasonable Sunday Brunch with German favorites.

For a reasonable price, the brunch on Sunday (Fathers Day was a but more but included a free mimosa or juice) was quite surprisingly good. There were brunch staples and cold items with nice surprises such as peel and eat shrimp and fresh Braunschweiger that I presume came from across the street... read more

Rated as the best German eatery in Milwaukee, so stopped by on my last business trip to the area. The setting is a true German experience. The beer selection is excellent & price is reasonable. The waitress provided me a suggestion for light beer & an excellent choice. Waitress very friendly & very attentive. As for food, the Wiener Schnitzel... More

Mader's presents a germanic atmosphere. The food, has some touches that are not authentic, and distracting from the actual tastes you want, For instance, the goulash had a very pervasive rye flavor, which drowned out the paprika. The sauerbraten was not at all sour. The rouladen and duck were ok, though not up to what this restaurant used to serve.

My flight was delayed so before returning my rental car I buzzed downtown. Lived in Milwaukee 40 years ago and had a hankering for authentic German food. Discovered John Ernst had closed so that left Mader's. It was a bit pricey but I had to chuckle as the decor has not changed nor has the food so I got what... More

Several people had recommended we eat here whilst in Milwaukee, so it was top of our list of places to try. Sadly, it was the least successful - and the most expensive - of our evenings. We found the restaurant to be stuffy and the food disappointing. Perhaps in its heyday, Maders was indeed the place to go. For us,... More

We had lunch in the bar on a Saturday and it was great. The bartender was so friendly and helpful. He explained all the appetizers and beer choices. My spouse is gluten free and he made a good selection for her. Maders is an American treasure! I have eaten here before in the dinning room and that was superb as well.... More

We had a really fun lunch here on a Saturday. I had my 8 year old son along, and he is generally not a fan of any kind of out of the ordinary food. However, once he saw the suits of armor near the entrance, he was sold. The service was exemplary, the setting seemed old world and the food...well,... More

This is a classic old restaurant in Milwaukee. Unfortunately, the food is not up to its old standards. It seems to live on its long history and reputation. Great to visit once, but not sure i would come back.

This is a true German gastronomic experience. The beer selection is grand, the food was perfect, and the servers are dressed like a day on the Marianplatz during Oktoberfest. I ordered the Saurbraten and it was perfect, tender to the fork and tangy with the vinegar and spices. The spatzel and gravy matched in their high quality, and the desert... More

We had the German specialties plate and they allowed us to share it, even splitting it onto two plates. The portions are huge. The beers on tap are wonderful, lots of pipular German beers as well as local, etc. Valet parking makes a wonderful bonus, as it saved us $10.
