The food was pretty good but I would not call it great. It was a little pricey for the quality and quantity. We did enjoy the beer selection and the decor. The staff was very good.

Highly recommended by friends so we had to give it a try. Atmosphere was great, service was average and food was great and not so great. The price tag was way out of line for what we received. I had a sausage and pork dinner. It was average+. The pork loin cut that was with it was very good, as... More

Not being a meat eater, I had reservations about visiting a German style restaurant . Mader's came so highly recommended I went anyway. Isampled the fried herring served with turnip chips and it was delicious. Fresh sourdough bread. Amazing decor, friendly staff, some dressed in traditional attire,

Mader's was recommended by friends in Texas. My husband loves German food so we dropped in for dinner. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. My husband thought the food was terrific. I thought it was ok. The sauerkraut was very tart and the red cabbage was overly sweet and a bit over cooked. The facility is old world and... More

If you're looking for authentic Germanic food in an inviting atmosphere, Mader's is the place to go. A large variety of options give a feel for what makes Milwaukee a special place with a special heritage. Although some may find the surroundings overdone for tourist's sake, it's fun, convenient, and delicious.

My husband and I dined at Maders many years ago, so when we were in Milwaukee, we put it on our to do list. The atmosphere was still old time German, as was the food, but felt really outdated. The wait staff was not busy, as it was a weekday, but still did not come by our table to check... More

You come here to experience German food and ambiance. Yes, we did get those two things. Our food was good and the service was very good (server did a good job of explaining items and making suggestions). The atmosphere was okay. My biggest complaint is the cost. I did see the prices on the menu when ordering, but for some... More

We almost always go to Mader's for lunch when we visit Milwaukee. The lunch menu is very reasonable and the food is delicious. The interior is absolutely stunning.

If you like German food, don't miss Mader's. The interior is packed with relics, and the food is spot on German. My only regret is giving them my e-mail address, because they ruined my World Cup watching by telling me who won the title before I had a chance to watch the game I'd DVR'd. Small price to pay for... I wrote the ad that promoted the World Cup stein five days before the World Cup was played. We predicted Germanys' victory five days in advance of the game. Thank you for your kind review. Victor Mader Owner More

I loved the atmosphere and the food. While I had the good ol' Wienerschnitzel with spaetzle and a vegetable, I was surprised there was no gravy or sauce for either the meat or the spaetzle. The pretzel bread was okay, but we were given only one butter pat each to use for the whole roll of bread.
