A go-to for German food!

We loved the food there. the crackling pork shank was delicious and had enough for another meal. My husband let me taste his and I don't care too much for pork but plan on getting it next visit. Easily the best German restaurant in the United States. Starting off with the authentic ambience, the servers in German clothing, the great beer selection. Then the food is the best. How many places serve goose on the menu? The sauerbraten is simply the best, I make it at home at this rivals my best efforts. This restaurant needs to be... More

This was my fourth dinner at Ratzsch's in the last 6 months. I try a different dish each time. Everything is prepared to perfection, served with a smile. The staff treats patrons like family. Don't miss the excellent beer and wine selection. Bring your appetite, the portions are generous. Don't miss trying their great desserts, even if you have to... More

Karl Ratzsch's restaurant is a name known to most Milwaukee natives. It conjures up "stuffy" and "overstated." On a tip that they serve s great fish fry, and wanting something out of the ordinary, we took a trip. The fish fry was everything one could imagine. Excellent, succulent large pieces of fish were perfectly cooked: lightly breaded and obviously fried... More

We had a Groupon for here and were going to a play in downtown Milwaukee so we decided to give this a try. We had not been here for 20 years. We were pleasantly surprised. Our server, Dennis, was delightful and our food was delicious. We will be back!

The food was tops. Hot and freshly prepared. Dolores, our server, provided perfect service and care. This place was worth every bit of the money. What a treat to eat something besides bar food out. It was a classic experience. The place is beautiful inside. It was a wonderful all around dining experience. I still smile thinking of it. I... More

The atmosphere, service and food choices will take you back to the very best of Old World dining. Try the Black Forest Schnitzel and Strudel for dessert - it's an A+!

This is our second trip to Karl Ratzsch's and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere is beautiful and takes you away on an Austrian experiance. The German specialities are all made from Mama Ratzsch's recipes. The deserts are all made on premises. Diffinitely, not fast food. This is a place for speacial occasions where you can come, relax and enjoy... More

Karl Ratzsch's isn't one of the new "trendy" haute cuisine places that are (fortunately) becoming commonplace in Milwaukee and around much of the US. This is old school, authentic German cuisine akin to what your great great grandmother Gertrude from Grafelfing would make. My favorites are the Consommé with Liver Dumplings and the Roast Goose Shank. The selection of German... More

I was a little disappointed at our visit to the restaurant. Maybe my expectations were too high but the food was not nearly as good as I had hoped. First we had a discount coupon and maybe it was my imagination but once we said that the waitress seemed a little cool toward us. I ordered the pork schnitzel she... More
