Good in Brat town!

Good food, quiet at mid day, excellent service by Heidi, good food every time we've stopped by for lunch. Most authentic in easy to get around Milwuakee!

I have a fish allergy so i have to be careful what i order. however, everything was cooked with fish. i had to order a very expensive salad because it was the only thing that was safe for me to eat. when i was asking the waiter is a couple of the foods were cooked in the same oil as... More

If you like German--Wienerschnitzel, Sauerbraten, Knackwurst, Spatzle, and so on, you're going to love this place. In food and ambience, it is decidedly more in the old world of Bavaria than this one, but that's the fun part. The décor is ornate. The waitress was in costume. But it's all very good, service with a snap, and the whole thing... More

My wife, and, myself celebrated my birthday here last evening April 27,Monday.. Started ou with cocktails,a nice pour, and, a bread basket. My wife then enjoyed a Spinach salad with hot bacon dressing. I had the Consomme with liver dumplings.. My wife said the salad was one of the best. My consomme was very good, and, not salty. For dinner we had... More

We were accommodated quite quickly although the place was packed and we didn't have a reservation. The place can be quite a bit noisy although they did have a piano player in the house. The food was really good! This was my first time being in a German restaurant but I have always had home cooked German food at my... More

Karl Ratzsch's is a very old-school German restaurant in downtown Milwaukee. Our food was okay, and portion sizes were rather large. We had a Groupon, so we thought we would be able to this restaurant at an affordable cost. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a lot more expensive than we had initially thought. The food and beer was overpriced... More

I ate here for some work events when I used to visit Milwaukee about 15 years ago. I wanted to return as I really liked it on earlier occasions. Not sure if the place has slipped or my memory was off-target but I was disappointed when my wife and I recently had dinner here. The great beer selection of German... More

I’d last been here 1.5 years ago, and it continues to maintain its high quality. Once again, I had the crackling pork shank, this time splitting it with my wife. Once again, it was not only stunningly delicious, but even split we couldn’t finish it. The shank itself is gigantic, although the dish could’ve used a bit more of the... More

I just loved this restaurant; the food was delicious and the decor was wonderful! We went on a Friday before 6:00 and was able to save money on their specials! It's definitely a must go to when visiting downtown Milwaukee!

I had the wonderful opportunity to dine at Karl Ratzsch's on Saturday afternoon for lunch. I was part of a paryt of 10 who arrived about an hour before the restaurant was to close its lunch hours. We did not have reservations so the restaurant was not prepared for our large party. The host/manager greeted us very welcomingly. Set up... More
