An interesting find by one of our friends. We were a group of 6 on the evening we visited this restaurant located in Milwaukee's Third Ward District. Decor in this old rehabilitated building is really done well reminding me of an old world sort of restaurant and feel. This is a trendy french flavored restaurant with a diverse clientele. We... We had lunch here on a recent Sunday. Was expecting something special, but just did not see that. Menu looked bigger than it was, as many items were not available for some reason. Bread on table in white paper was stale and rock-hard. Bloody Mary looked very tasty and well-garnished (one in our table had one);but our waiter did not... More

I went to Coquette for Downtown Dining Week today. This is about the 4th year or so that I've gone. The quality of the meal seems to have slipped. I had to ask for bread with our gazpacho, and it wasn't as cold as I like. The sandwich was smaller than last year and didn't have as much ham or... More

What a lovely place to spend time on a Sunday afternoon. The service was attentive but unobtrusive - none of that "we" phenomenon as in "how are we today? what are we having? etc." For that alone, Coquette Café endeared itself to me. The setting is open but intimate, with huge windows and enough foot traffic outside to make for... More

We entered Coquette cafe by surprise and we were surprised by the quality of the interior, the service and the food. And for once as a Euopean tourist we could just talk and not yell at each other because the accoustics are good. A good wine chart and well prepared food made us happy for the rest of the night!

We made a reservation and called to verify that our guest in a motorized wheelchair would be able to get in. We were assured they had an elevator in the back for access. The elevator looked like it hadn't worked in 30 years, and it didn't work that evening. After trying for 10-15 minutes (with our guest left inside a... More

Went to the Coquette Cafe for a week day lunch with my husband. I had the tomato basil soup which was the soup of the day. It was really good, exactly the right portion. For dessert I had the bananas foster bread pudding, the taste was good but the bananas were a strange consistency. My husband had a pork sandwich... More

What a charming place and with great service, ambience and terrific food. A perfect place to unwind with friends after a frenetic time in Chicago and the train trip to Milwaukee. This is a darling place where you can relax, enjoy the food and not be hassled by over zealous staff. Great coffee too. We'll be back.

Coquette is an old standby in Milwaukee's burgeoning gentrified Third Ward. The ambience is good, like a neighborhood bistro. We were a party of six for dinner, four adults and two kids. Hats of to Coquette for having a kid-friendly and reasonably priced menu. Hats off as well for the fabulous, chewy sourdough bread. We might have made a meal... More

We tried this for lunch due to its reputation and reviews. The atmosphere is very nice and the service was excellent. My wife had a salad (basic greens) with a great dressing. She also had a flatbread which she liked. I had the salmon sandwich and was not impressed. I have had much better at a different local French bistro... More
