Forgive me for my spelling, but I had Mi Abuelo's Manajar with Papas con rellenos. The creamy mashed potatoes with cheese and papers were the star. The spice profile was adequate but not overpowering for a non spice lover. The main dish was very good but I added some of the hot sauce. Three types brought to the table.

Not too spicy, which is not a glowing recommendation for a Mexican restaurant. Well appointed room, and service was good. No complaints. We were two families of four, and they were hapy to accommodate us.

I don't like spicy foods, and have only eaten in one or two Mexican restaurants because of that. While traveling for business, my coworker and I decided to try Abuelos. I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed their guacamole appetizer, and their chips were really very good (not too salty). I opted for the chicken and steak fajitas, refried beans, and... More

We went there last night for dinner. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Well, other than one in Rochester, MN and Prescott, AZ. Their chips are very light, so if you like the hard crunchy chips, you won't like these. They bring out 3 different kinds of salsa. We always mix the hot and mild together. Makes for a perfect... Just made it to happy hour, five minutes to 7:00. Thanks to Katie, our server, we were able to capitalize on the specials, even if it was after 7:00!! She was the best. Their happy hour menu is inclusive of a variety of tapas, excellent in quality and quantity, and the margaritas are excellent and well-priced. Would recommend Abuelos any... More

Ok, well it wasn't frozen this trip, but Madison is usually really cold. It's odd, then, to get Mexican food with the same flavor profile I grew up with in West Texas. In fact, Abuelos was a family favorite, where we ate weekly in the very first one. They've evolved, as has the menu, but the classics are still there.... More

The only thing going for this place is the cheap happy hour drinks. Other than that, the food is overly salty with not a lot of flavor. Would try other mexican restaurants before going to this place.

Nice atmosphere, service was ok. Had trouble get drink refills, and waitress hardly check back with us during our visit. Food was ok. Not great, not horrible. Pretty expensive for what you get. Our party was split on their opinions of this place. There are a lot of restaurants in the area, I think you can find something better.

Service here was excellent as was the food! Their chips and salsas were very tasty, especially the chips, very light! This was my first time to an Abuelos. There is one where I live which I've never been to, but am definitely going to make a point to go now!
