What can an adult say about a place that glitters with all kinds of sparkling dishes. A place with mirrors that reflect all the surfaces that are dripping with treats. This place has a menu that comprises wonderful deli sandwiches as well as ice cream confections that are the stuff of dreams. They make sodas, malts, shakes, sundaes and cones.... More

My wife and I always have to stop and eat at this wonderful place every time we are in Manitowoc. This time we came later in the evening after a stroll down the lakeshore trail between Manitowoc and Two rivers (I highly recommend visiting the trail and West of the Lake). We were pleasantly surprised to find out that Beerntsen's... More

The food was pretty decent but the place was a mess. Every table was covered with dirty plates when we walked in - maybe a giant rush had just come and gone? Or they just don't have enough waitstaff. Also, there was only one other group of customers there while we ate, but they were so loud that we could... More

We needed a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, & were happily satisfied with great sandwiches, along with buying chocolates for later. The woodwork, lighting, & the whole atmosphere of Beerntsen's was like stepping back in time. The building is expertly preserved & the friendliness of the staff all made for a quaint & memorable experience.

This place is like a blast from the past. Not only is it a resturant it is also one of the best candy stores you will ever visit. They have all sorts of chocolate goodies plus good old fashioned candies. Christmas is a great time to visit when they bring out all of their seasonal stuff like candy canes and... More

Beernsten's is a terrific stop in Manitowoc. They have been around for decades, and provide excellent chocolate and other sweets. The setting is unchanged from the beginning, with an open space containing dark wood booths, and a front area that has overflowing displays of all of their in-house treats. Have an ice cream sundae, a banana split, etc. and get... More

Beerntsen's has been a favorite of my family's place to visit for 20 years now. What a great way to travel back in time to experience what an upscale ice-cream parlor was like 80 years ago. The dark wood booths, countertops, framing and shelves were absolutely beautiful. The choice of chocolates were sensational (dark chocolate cherry bark, dark chocolate sea... More

This place is ice cream, candies, and more. They have a lovely lunch menu and I find their BLT to be one of the best I’ve ever had. They don’t go crazy on the bacon or overwhelm you with the size of the sandwich. This is a lovely stop for lunch, to find a special gift, or to indulge.

A local recommended that we stop at this little ice cream and chocolate shop. The ambiance is darling and the ice cream is great! Definitely worth a stop after a ride on the S.S. Badger car ferry that docks in Manitowoc.

I saw a recent reviewer say he/she has been going here since the '60's. Well, it's been here since 1932, so it goes back further than that. The decor looks like what it must have looked like in 1932 - lots of wood on the walls and in the booths. The menu is mostly soups and sandwiches, but everything is... More
