Best chocolate-covered cherries anywhere!

I've loved chocolate-covered cherries since I was a kid, growing up on the See's Candies version from California. I have been trying other brands, imported and American-made, ever since. Then my husband bought me a pound of dark chocolate-covered cherries from Beernsten's in Manitowoc, where he was... read more

We always seem to go because the wife has fond memories as a kid but honestly it's just OK and a little overpriced.

It may be great tasting, but with small cramped space couldn't get to counter to look good at chocolates. The dining area for lunch did look quaint, but getting there is tricky if more than 2 people are at the counter.

Then my husband bought me a pound of dark chocolate-covered cherries from Beernsten's in Manitowoc, where he was attending a conference. Nothing compares! They are the best I've ever had. What a cool place! Yummy chocolates and other treats! You can eat here or have ice cream, but we haven't done that yet. Beautiful old building. Stop in for a yummy snack:)

We took our 6 & 8 year old granddaughters here after a tour of the Maritime Museum [2 blocks east of here]. It's the same charming place I remembered from many years ago when I grew up in Manitowoc. We ate lunch from a lunch menu with a variety of sandwiches and soups from grilled cheese and BLT to olive... More

Beerntsen's is an iconic place in Manitowoc with it's early 1900's decor. Best chocolates anywhere in the Midwest, and their ice cream sundaes are amazing; still served in the old-fashioned tulip glass. Their fresh roasted cashews and other nuts are delightful.

Love it when some things never change. Place is just like it was when we started coming 28 years ago when we first got married, and tonight's experience was just as good! Had a bubbly pleasant waitress and enjoyed delicious sundaes in the old-fashioned ice cream parlor. All staff very friendly and definitely handpicked. Thank you for another great time!!

What a great place to sooth a sweet tooth and have lunch too. A great lunch menu and extensive ice cream menu makes this the place you can spend a few hours!

So... this is about eighteen months late... I was here in the first week of November 2013... I was visiting family and only went once: I'm still telling people about it!!! I am not a big fan of marshmallow but it came on my sundae: drowning in this is my dream death!!! If I ever get back I'll definitely make... More

We came here after dinner. Great atmosphere. Sat in booth and ordered the Teddy Bear (Chocolate ice cream/marshmallow cream-both homemade), Vanilla shake (great flavor!) and chocolate scoop in a dish (just as big as my sundae-wow) the flavors were rich, creamy - totally worth stopping on way home to Indiana!! Also bought a few homemade candies and chocolate pieces to... More
