First, the service was top notch. We went there twice this summer (June and July) and enjoyed the experience. The Friday fish fry is pretty standard stuff. Otherwise, the menu is varied, most of it fried. Our large family had children's hamburgers, fried fish, grilled cheese sandwich, mac and cheese. Also on the menu was steak, roast chicken, roast duck,... More

Boneless pork chop in perfectly spiced apple-cran sauce with wild rice & veggie excellent. Ample servings size. Slaw plus soup or salad with quality bread buns round out this meal. Atmosphere unique and interesting with historic vibes, filtered lighting via large windows. Good location for large groups or parties. Tables well spaced so families shouldn't shy away. Service attentive. Prices... More

We have been vacationing up in the northwoods for over 30 years. We have been in and out of this restaurant (as it has changed many hands). However, we decided to give it a try again this year. We went late on a Thursday (8:30pm) they close at 9:00pm and we had a party of 8. They seated us and... More

We invited friends to come with us to Gateway Lodge. Everyone had something different and it was all fabulous! We tried the ribs, duck, salmon and perch dinners. Absolutely no complaints. The waitress was very helpful with suggestions of what we should try. Also the drink prices were really reasonable. $4 for a generous pour of wine. Margaritas for $4.50.

Had the broiled cod. It was very good! Also had a cup of the beer cheese soup. Also very good! The beer cheese soup is served with popcorn on top as a garnish. Food was hot, and we left very full! The waiter was excellent! Very neat old dining room.

It was late for us, 9:00 P.M. and we were tired. We were the only ones left in the dining room at that hour. They did serve us but was not my any stretch 5 star.

Stopped by the Gateway for a late dinner with a friend on a Friday night after hearing good things about their food. Got the beer cheese soup which had popcorn (?) in it and was full of hard kernels, couldn't eat it. I had the filet and mushroom ravioli and the demi glaze was very thick and over-powering, after scraping... More

The place was nearly empty - except for a line dancing club and an old couple. My soup was cold, sent it back and then it was just weird. My husband ordered a filet mignon and mushroom ravioli with demi glase. The filet was great, but he had to put it on another plate because the ravioli sauce was GROSS.... More

My husband hadn't been to Gateway in many years and wanted to try it again. I purchased a $10 gift certificate from the local radio station and we went on Thursday which was senior day 10 % off. The atmosphere was very traditional north woods, logs and stuffed animals. The food was very good and the waitress was very attentive... More
