Excellent food, casual, older dining room experience, friendly staff! My sons have chosen this for some of their birthday dinners, as well as general family and friend outings. The reputation for this restaurant is often word of mouth, as you might not just "choose" it from walking by. The charm is realized as you enter, get seated and enjoy the... More

My wife and I visited Digger's sting on a Wednesday evening in La Crosse. The restaurant was reasonably busy for a Wednesday which was a good sign of things to come. The waiter seated us and was very friendly and helped explain some of the menu items. We ordered a ribeye steak (with baked potato), A steak and blue cheese... More

A nice local place in La Crosse. I went there on a Friday for dinner. The Bad: They were out of several kinds of potato and ALMOST out of prime rib. No desserts made in house. Dimly lit old dining room (might have been on purpose). Salad was so-so. The Good: Excellent Garlic Bread! It is almost like a fresh... More

We chose this place based on Trip Advisor ratings and were not disappointed. It is total Old School Charm. We took our kids early in the evening and were only one of three tables in use. They didn't have a kids menu, but were very flexible to our requests for cut veggies and pasta with sauce on the side. We... More

If not for TripAdvisor, we wouldn't have found this place. The outside of the building is very unassuming, but once inside you really do take a step back in time with the cozy tables, soft lighting, relaxing music and old Hollywood photos on the wall. Our waitress was helpful, and checked on us without being intrusive. As others have said,... More

Digger's is our "go to" special night out. We have been going there for years and are never dissapointed. You will enjoy the "standby steaks"...i recommend the ribeye, or try one of the many fresh fish specials. they do a lot of fresh Hawaiin fish, prepared multiple ways and all are fabulous. The manhattans, old fashioneds, martini's are delicious and... More

This is the place you go when you are on vacation and you want great food and great service. This is where the locals go. No need to advertise, the food is always great. If you want to eat there, especially on the weekends, make sure you have a reservation. You will not be disappointed!

Digger's has very good food. The restaurant has a unique old time dinner club atmosphere to it. The prime rib is very good and the old fashioneds aren't bad either. I think you get a better bang for your buck than at Digger's as opposed to the Waterfront or Freight House.

This will be short. Tapping with one finger. That doesn't mean the meal was not worth enthusing over. What we liked: 1. JUICY, FLAVORFUL ribeye. Sooooo good. Was determined to eat very succulent bite. Split a 14-oz steak with hubby and it was more than enough. 2. Who knew that garlic bread could be so decadent? No doubt it's the... More

Our son, a recent university student in LaCrosse, recommended Digger's to us. He said the outside didn't look like much, but the ambiance inside was nice, and the food was great. Following his lead we decided to dine there and were deliciously happy with the food. Three of us had the steak as they are known for their beef items.... More
