This was a quick walk from the Radisson Hotel where we were staying. We took the river walk up to the end and then sauntered through the garden and then on to the restaurant. I had the Halibut and the husband had the swordfish. With a salad and a side it was actually way too much to eat for one... More

What a great place for a lovely evening meal, get a table near a window and watch what everything about a river town is about, from luxury yachts to homemade houseboats to 1000 foot long barges to paddle wheel steamers, everything that is americana river travel

Intimate but relaxed atmosphere. Great for any occasion - formal or casual. Our favorite place for our anniversary.

Billy was as attentive a waiter as one could want. He was efficient, charming, and recommended delicious entrees. Lives up to its reputation. The manager was appreciative of praise for his staff and also gave them kudos. It was a great last night on our vacation to really treat ourselves before heading home. (Only problem was that they couldn't get... More

This is a cool place, no doubt. The fish ordered by myself and my companion was delicious, and I probably wouldn't have found the food so pricey if the atmosphere had matched the meal and the attentive server. Wanting a less formal feeling, we ate in the lounge. There were two women seated beside us drinking. A man who was... More

I don't know how it was possible, but my food was even better than the last time I ate at The FreightHouse. I was greeted by Jon, the hardworking owner, as I entered the building. Next, I was greeted by name by numerous thoughtful employees. I had an excellent glass of red wine with a steamed artichoke in the bar... More

The crab legs are always worth going to The Freighthouse for. We live in Atlanta, but get to LaCrosse often, and always make it a point to visit The Freighthouse

Took our friend here for his 80th birthday. Food was excellent, service was superb. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They have the best salad bar in town. It is a great atmosphere.

We celebrated our mutual 48th wedding anniversary with another couple. I called to reserve a certain table we wanted and it was done quickly and professionally a few days prior. We have been going here for decades on business and personal dinners and always enjoy our time. While the prices have gone up over time the quality is always there.... More

For a historical experience, Freight House allows you that. The food was nothing remarkable, but the portions were great. A nice wine selection is available, but if you are going to opt for the house Cabernet, pay the three extra dollars for the Next-step-up Cabernet. The house wine is not worth the effort. Ask for the scrumptious summer spinach salad... More
