Old School

While the decor could use some updating, the food is really good. I am particularly fond of the steak sandwich and the hand made fresh hamburger. The owner is there every day which ensures quality food and service. Give it a try.

Had their tuna sandwich for lunch. Great flavor combo. Have only had tuna with cajun spice before. This had cream cheese and pesto with sesame seed. Yummy.

You know, this place has real potential. With a few different decisions and some modest effort, it could be really good. We entered to find the hostess at the bar. I did not see a hostess stand anywhere, so we just kind of walked to the bar and said hi. Instead of being seated in a formal dining area, which... More

Never having dined here before, we thought we'd give it a try. The entry is a little odd. Three doors - one marked Bar, one marked Women and one not marked. That's the one that led into the restaurant. There is a nicely appointed dining area to the right of where you enter. Then to the left is the classy... More

With there new chef, the food is wonderful, and the bar scene like a cocktail party with everyone chatting with everyone else. Happy to say it is back to being a favorite of ours!

We have been coming here for years and always have excellent food and real "real" scratch mix drinks which Margaret makes always great. Not sure why the negative reviews in the food area, definitely would be nice if the restrooms were cleaned and updated, not what you expect to walk into for what is considered a fine dining restaurant, but... Decided to go there after our regular place was to busy this past Saturday night. Going home would have been the better choice. The reviewers that called out dreary, dated and with a little effort are absolutely right. Walking in, the bar area was full and looked OK from an atmosphere point of view. We were seated in a back... More

We've been going there for years and everything is good, but we really enjoy the lake perch on Fridays! Amy is usually our waitress, we like to eat in the bar area, but the dining room is also nice..

My parents, indeed my grandparents, and my self have been regularly going to Max Mier's since it opened in 1967, when I was three. I was taken home from the hospital in Milwaukee to our new home in Hartland in 1964 when I was born. The Rotary Club meets there. The Fondue is fantastic, spaeztle, sour kraut. A bar that... More

Regular visitor to family in Hartland so I always look forward to sharing dinner or the wonderful Fish Fry at the Hartland Inn. The food is consistently good and we fell well looked after. It reminds me of old coaching inns in England, with an American flair. Lovely too for family get-togethers - we really enjoyed our Mother's Day too.
