Remember when (ok - I'm 52) you could go out to local restaurants and each restaurant's food would be different? Now it seems that 90% of all establishments get the same food from the same suppliers - Sysco and the like (did you know restaurants can buy prime rib fully cooked in a plastic bag from Hormel...). It's become an... More

In a state that has a fish fry restaurant on nearly every corner, the Pike Lake House is a real stand out. It is hard to find, not being on the "main drag" (Hwy 60) in Hartford, but once there you will not forget it. It's located in an old, renovated, pub on the west side of Pike Lake. It... More

We (husband and I) ate upstairs and had the best meal we have had in a long time. This was our first time there and I know we will return for dinners and try their Sunday brunch! It really was that good. We went on a Saturday night and started with the fish coldplate as an ap. They had cold... More

There were 6 of us. We did'nt have to wait long for a table on a Saturday night. We order fish, prime rib, pasta and we all shared a little of each. Food was excellant and large portions. Price was good. We will eat here again the next time we are in town. Everyone had a good time and the... More

The food was very inventive and very tasty! The menu is very limited - but they offered some very nice specials for the evening. Our waitress was very pleasant, but needs to write things down (like the specials, etc.). She couldn't remember - which happens - but then keep a notepad. My husband had grilled duck breast on Cajun red... More

Since the place was taken over and cleaned up by the new owner we have never been disappointed with our visit.. Fish Fry, Sunday Brunch or just a sandwich, its all good. The food is Great and the service is the same. Hard place to find but well worth the effort looking for it. We probably go there 3 or... More

The new chef is just great, has new and different spins on food, something that isn't done in Wisconsin outside of large cities. The Fish Fry is excellent. There is a smoker out back which produced the best smoked salmon starter that I've ever had. The chef came out to talk to us and couldn't have been more welcoming. The... More

we went to pike lake house on a last minute whim. We have been there before, so we did know how to find it. We went on a Friday about 530pm. It wasn't busy at all yet. So I was surprised when we pulled it the parking lot and they has a parking attendant. We went into the upper level.... More

It is tough to succeed in the restaurant business. First year failure rates range from 25 to 60% depending on the market. Opening a small place off the beaten path seems risky but I certainly hope to have more opportunities to enjoy Pike Lake House (PLH) in Hartford. First, you must find it! From Highway 60 on the far eastern... More

It was one bad thing after another. First they got my husbands drink wrong and the guy at the bar was not happy about that. Our chicken wings were not done, we sent the remaining ones back and they finished cooking them, did not get a new order of wings and they still charged us full price, and they forgot... More
