Clucking Monarch

Fabulous staff, food and drinks. Best corned beef ever. Try the champagne and Celtic liquor shots- smooth and warm. Owner John knows customer service.

We were traveling to Winona to see a movie and had heard about this Irish Pub so we decided to go early for supper. What a nice place very welcoming - service was outstanding and the food was great also. Lots of nice old items to see in the pub and restaurant. We had the grand kids with us so... More

Best baked sweet potato fries I have had. Super attentive staff and they allowed me to bring my favorite furry friend in with me. It is a delightful neighborhood bar and has all the gorgeous wood, and brass as in a bygone era.

We stopped here for a drink and an appetizer. The owner was so welcoming...introduced himself and talked to us for a while. We just got chips with their homemade dipping sauce for an appetizer, but it was delicious! I hope we go again soon.

I remember your visit and glad you enjoyed the chips and dip. My wife makes the dip so I know she'll be equally happy! We will look forward to your next visit! More

We stopped at the Monarch Public House for dinner while passing through at the end of a weekend trip to Minnesota with friends in October 2014. It happened to be the weekend of their “Great Irish Barbeque/Farewell to summer” party with Irish Music and wine/beer/whiskey tasting. Unfortunately we could not participate in this tasting as it was late and we... More

Thank you so very much for the compliments. While we missed getting all "5's" on your review, this is one of my most favorites because of your comparison of The Monarch to a "European/Old World" flavor. VERY much what we have strived to achieve. We will look forward to your next visit and hope you will let us know what... More

If you want old world atmosphere this is the place to go to. Dating back to the 1870's this Irish pub should be on your list of places to go to in 2015. We enjoyed the Comfort & Joy Christmas menu this last Sunday. Along with a wonderful Irish menu to select from very good Irish music was provided by... More

Really glad to hear you enjoyed our Comfort And Joy event and the music as well. I believe I know which table you were at and we enjoyed your interaction with us as well. Especially the Viking fan! lol. (If I'm right that is!). Either way, thank you for the kind words and recommendation. We wish you all the best... More

If you're looking for a great pizza in the small town of Fountain City, you can't go wrong with the Monarch Public House! They have a great selection of toppings - something for everyone. We've had their Chicken Royale and this last time we had the works with bacon and thoroughly enjoyed. We had thought about ordering sandwiches, however we... More

The owners, John and Lori, have crafted an amazing Banger, Irish sausage. It makes their potato soup amazing. Wrap it around a hardboiled egg and you have Scotch Egg perfect for brunch when paired with their custom Bloody Mary.

Our first exposure to bubble and squeak won us over. We enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food in this little gem of a restaurant.

Great to hear about the Bubble and Squeak! Had to convince my wife of the authenticity of this dish to get it on the menu and now it is a big demand. I won that round! Glad you enjoyed your stop and thank you so much for the kind words and endorsement. Enjoy your day. More
