Overly generous portions a Viking would appreciate

The Viking Grill is a tradition. Been dining here for years. Always something new or something that's been around forever. Soups, salads and lots of traditional burgers and fish dishes plus quesadillas. I ordered a tomato and tuna salad and got TWO huge tomatoes and tuna salads. The bowl was a... read more

We love Fish Boils and we often stop at the Viking. Their Fish Boil rarely changes nor does it ever disappoint. Our biggest issue was stopping after 8pm on Friday of Labor Day weekend. They had already quit serving! Better stop before 7pm for their Fish Boil. It was worth coming back for on Saturday. A little later on weekends... More

This place has excellant food, we stop everytime we are in Door County. The only complaint I have is one of the waitresses and we seem to always get her does not write down the food orders as she takes them. We usually have about 6 people ordering and almost everytime our order is wrong when the food comes. This... More

I was expecting more, but the food was good. Waitress was a little slow, I asked for a refill 1/2 way through my meal, got it well after I was done along with the check.

All I can say is what a freakin train wreck of an experience. The bartender is a clown. He didn't know how to make a drink (physically make) and had no idea how to open a bottle of wine or pour a normal glass. When he ovetpoured he spent time actually pouring it back INTO the bottle. The waitress unprofessionally... More

It's been awhile since we ate breakfast at the Viking, but I remember them always being very good. So, when we visited Door County last week, we decided to eat here once more. My wife & I split two different breakfasts right down the middle. I ordered the Country Fried Steak. The piece of breaded steak was humungous, and melt-in-your... More

My husband was hooked by the donuts as soon as we walked in the door. Just a nice, local, homey vacation breakfast spot. Food and service were good. Eavesdropping here and on the Ferry to Washington Island later in the day, led us to bypass the fish boil.

Nothing to write home about at this Door County diner that we stopped at for lunch. Food was average and the prices were comparable to other similar restaurants in the area that had a much a nicer atmosphere. Two of our meals had to be sent back and the restaurant didn't compensate us for the mistakes. Don't waste your time.

We've never had bad food here (although we know to avoid the fish boil). We've been eating breakfast at the Viking for at least six years. We've noticed a decline in the restaurant's willingness to accommodate broiled or grilled fish instead of the typical deep fry. We finally got them to agree to broil some walleye for us, but we... We have been coming and spending the summers in Ellison bay for years and are never disappointed by the Viking breakfast. The Swedish pancakes are better than Al Johnson's hands down! Now, if you are going there for a fish boil, that is just gross. Who boils fish anyway? Don't expect friendly service because that's not really their thing.
