Description: TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Area Restaurant, Rookery Pub Fine Dining offers the most flavorful and creative cuisine in the Wisconsin Northwoods. The Rookery's ever-changing menu features weekly fresh fish specials, beef & bison steak, specialty salads, housemade soups, and other creative dishes incorporating fresh seasonal ingredients from local producers. Including some of the best vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options you'll find anywhere. Our full bar offers a great selection of regional microbrews, premium liquor, and more than three dozen fine wines. We believe you'll find our cuisine to be second to none in the Cable/Hayward area. In fact, many of our guests from much larger communities with dozens of great restaurants tell us we're their favorite anywhere. In addition to our TripAdvisor #1 ranking we're also the only local restaurant to be AAA Three Diamond Approved. Plus we're Travel Green Wisconsin certified. But it's not only casual gourmet dining at its finest that has earned the Rookery a reputation as one of the most distinctive restaurants in northern Wisconsin. The stunning oversized nature photography prints on canvas that grace the walls of the restaurant lend a unique aura of beauty and serenity to your dining experience. And after a delectable dinner why worry about driving? Instead feel free to polish off that wonderful bottle of wine. Knowing you can simply walk upstairs to spend the night in one of the finest guest rooms in the area. The Rookery and Cable Nature Lodge are located just seven miles east of Cable, on County Hwy M in the heart of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

My family and I (4 of us) went to the rookery for their 5 course prefixed New Years eve meal. At $100 a head we had high hopes. It was incredibly disappointing. Every single dish was cold, the duck course was raw & inedible, so was the creme brûlée dessert! They also forgot the lobster tail which accompanied the main... More

This review is very surprising to us. Not only because the other feedback we received about our five course New Year's Eve dinner attended by more than 70 guests was overwhelmingly positive. But also because the server who waited on this particular party truly thought they went away happy. It is true the lobster was inadvertently left off their plates... More

My husband and I celebrated our 39th anniversary here. I had the special which was Cornish game hen...it was perfect...with enough left for lunch the next day. The restaurant was so cozy on a snowy night with a fire going...people were so friendly...Just a delight!

Went on Xmas Eve this year. Checked out the menu online before we went and had our choices narrowed down to a few. The waitress helped us make our final decisions and we were very pleased all around. The flavor and freshness shined through. Atmosphere was pleasant and was impressed with all the gluten-free options.

Nice ambience, fantastic preparations, solid service at a reasonable price point. The menu is varied and the sauces supreme. The Rookery is simply not to be missed.

It is amazing to find such a wonderful restaurant in northern Wisconsin. The food is made very well with good fresh ingredients. I love the new portobello dish. Very tasty! You can find options for vegans, vegetarians and of course meat eaters. It is the best food that we have had for dinner in that area in the past 7... More

Being greeted by a sweet black lab as I walked into the restaurant probably predisposed me to love the place! We entered by walking past a lovely outdoor seating area where we would have loved to eat if it hadn't been raining and wasn't mid-October in Northern Wisconsin! The food was different than the usual North Woods Supper Club Fare... More

The Rookery is simply one of the best dining experiences to be found anywhere , but to find it outside of tiny Cable Wi is truly extraordinary. We have enjoyed many dinners here including most menu items. The last time my husband had the pan seared pheasant. He said it was undoubtedly the best pheasant he has ever eaten anywhere.... More

What a fantastic place for dinner. The chef prepares wonderful dishes with amazing sides. Flown-in fresh fish, just - picked veggies, organic beef - what's not to love? Plus the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Wish we lived closer so we could come more often.

I ate at this restaurant 2 nights and had great meals both nights. I had the Canadian Walleye one night, and chicken wild rice soup and scallops appetizer the second night. The meals came with a delicious warm bread. Yum! The atmosphere in the pub is rustic, comfortable, yet with casual elegance. The waitresses were very attentive and friendly. Loved... More
