Description: TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Area Restaurant, Rookery Pub Fine Dining offers the most flavorful and creative cuisine in the Wisconsin Northwoods. The Rookery's ever-changing menu features weekly fresh fish specials, beef & bison steak, specialty salads, housemade soups, and other creative dishes incorporating fresh seasonal ingredients from local producers. Including some of the best vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options you'll find anywhere. Our full bar offers a great selection of regional microbrews, premium liquor, and more than three dozen fine wines. We believe you'll find our cuisine to be second to none in the Cable/Hayward area. In fact, many of our guests from much larger communities with dozens of great restaurants tell us we're their favorite anywhere. In addition to our TripAdvisor #1 ranking we're also the only local restaurant to be AAA Three Diamond Approved. Plus we're Travel Green Wisconsin certified. But it's not only casual gourmet dining at its finest that has earned the Rookery a reputation as one of the most distinctive restaurants in northern Wisconsin. The stunning oversized nature photography prints on canvas that grace the walls of the restaurant lend a unique aura of beauty and serenity to your dining experience. And after a delectable dinner why worry about driving? Instead feel free to polish off that wonderful bottle of wine. Knowing you can simply walk upstairs to spend the night in one of the finest guest rooms in the area. The Rookery and Cable Nature Lodge are located just seven miles east of Cable, on County Hwy M in the heart of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

LOVED the Rookery. It has a casual/fine dining vibe, amazing & original meals, and awesome service from the staff. Warm, friendly, and has a definite focus on art. The art displayed on the walls is absolutely stunning and features local delights. If you stay in Cable, WI, you definitely have to hit the Rookery :)

The Rookery is one of the best restaurants we have EVER eaten in and that is saying a lot considering we have eaten in literally hundreds and hundreds of them over the years. First of all, it is a rather new building so everything has a fresh appearance to it. So many times the cleanliness is less than it should... More

Loved the entire menu. Very fresh, healthy, and innovative dishes with combinations that looked so good. It is a smaller restaurant but you can tell it draws people from near & far. Absolutely loved the food and will go back. We also were staying upstairs in the Cable Nature Lodge. Loved that too!

Fantastic food....we had the Cesear Salad and the Spinach Salad...both were very fresh, delightful and light. My husband had the Fennel Crusted Pork Loin and I had the 12 oz Ribeye. Both were perfectly cooked with great sides. My steak was so tender, I could almost cut it with my fork. The accompanying sides of spaetzle and veggies tasted great.... More

I visited this restaurant when on a trip from England last year and when I returned to Cable this year I jumped at the chance to visit again. Delicious and interesting food, a superb location and a lovely building (the marvellous photographs are an inspiration) and superb service. It really is a fine dining experience in a somewhat unexpected location.... More

Celebrating our wedding anniversary, we started a trip to the Apostle Islands with a stop at the lodge and this fabulous restaurant. We were expecting just so-so a meal; but to our surprise, it was one of the best dinners we've ever had--coming from a couple who've dined in Paris, east coast, west coat and Chicago, this says a lot!... We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The menu selections are amazing for such an out of the way place out in the woods. The attention to detail on each ingredient is first rate and the two choices we made were beautifully presented, well balanced and prepared with very fresh ingredients. We started with a salad, that we shared, of smoked... More
