Not very impressive

Have eaten here several times. The most recent was less than impressive. The food on the bar was old. The gravy was lumpy and thickening from sitting over the warmer for so long. I had fish which was terribly overcooked and flavorless. My wife had fried chicken that was only luke warm. After we... read more

We tried eating at the Mason Jar but after almost 35 min of waiting to be served we left. The waitresses kept walking past us and never said a word to us. We also notice no food was coming out and the only people eating were off the Salad which looked old and cold. Oh Well plenty more places to... More

My wife and I recently ate there on our way to The Greenbrier and we split the pulled pork nachos. The pork was really moist and delicious. Their sweet tea was also very good and served out of a mason jar. The atmospehere was laid back with football in the background with a country feeling. We will definitely be back... More

We were in a hurry so we ate off the buffet. The food was less than impressive. Very few items on the salad bar, in fact, not enough to make a tasty salad. The meats, vegetable and side dishes on the buffet seemed to have been there for awhile, were not fresh at all, in fact, some were cold. Service... More

They can work on the atmosphere but the ribeye steak served on a hot skillet was very tender, flavorful and perfectly cooked. Fries also great. A great value. I will definitively revisit when in the area.

I wanted to like this place so badly. Everyone was very nice and it seemed very homey. I was with a group so I had to eat off the buffet, which I am not fond of anyway. The food was pretty tasteless except for the macaroni and cheese. The chicken was ok, but the beans and vegetable soup was not.... More

Food was terrible. My husband had the buffet, and it was cold. I ordered trout, not only did it taste awful, it was clearly old fish, and no tarter sauce or anything else with it. Service was also terrible. And beware if you are going west on 64, there is no reentry westbound. An utter disappointment and waste of time.

We walked to The Mason Jar from the Greenbrier, it was just over 1 mile. Had a nice lunch crowd. Buffet looked good but we ordered a Cobb Salad and Cheeseburger with chips. They were both good. The salad was served on a dinner plate but very fresh and tasty. Service was good. The only thing we didn't care for... More

Found this using Trip Advisor on our way home from OBX. Nice atmosphere, clean, home cooked food. Onion rings were awesome and so was Philly cheesesteak.
