This place has been a standard for good, home-style food for many years! Bring a hearty appetite and enjoy. P.S. The french fries and gravy is a Valley staple!!!

From the time we set foot in the door until we lefttgis has to be one of the worst experiences I've had when it comes to wait staff and employees. The woman at the front desk totally ignored us when we walked in. No greeting. No hi welcome to blah blah blah. Not even an acknowledgement. She was too busy... More

This place is fantastic, and each visit seems to be better than the first. If you have never been here, you don't know what you're missing; it is well worth the effort to track down this unique restaurant just off the old National Road. From a very nice free appetizer of chips and dip to a menu which has something... More

Ye Olde Alpha is a short drive from the Wilson Lodge at Oglebay, but well worth it. We sat on the bar side of the restaurant upon the advice of a local. The atmosphere added to our enjoyment ... everyone was enjoying themselves, but their enjoyment was subdued so conversation in normal tones was possible. The chicken wings were outstanding!

I started going to the Alpha in 1979. I enjoy it today as much as I did then. It changed hands a few years ago and did something I didn't think it would-- it got better. It's fun, great food with a big selection. Service is great. Do yourself a favor. Go. Enjoy!

Starting with the name. Ye Olde Alpha. Then the menu. What a variety of food. Greek, Mexican, anything you want really. Salads, steaks, chicken, anything. It is old timey with deer heads on the walls. Our waitress was very energetic and helped us with our orders. We couldn't decide what to eat with such a varied menu but the waitress... More

Positive: Low prices. Good fare, some dishes inconsistent. Staffing seems to be an issue on certain nights.

We took a Sunday drive and 2 1/2 hours later we arrive at the Ye Olde Alpha Tavern, our planned destination. We had never been here but the travel was well worth it. The food was excellent and the service was great. We would come back here in again. If your in the area give this restaurant a try, you... More

In the foodie mecca of Wheeling, WV (not), Alpha is a local favorite. Although the building, inside and out, has seen better days long ago, it does have a certain charm. It filled up fast for lunch with a mix of businessmen, families, and a lot of teenagers on what turned out to be their last day of school. My... More

Do not visit Wheeling without stopping for a meal at the Alpha. It is a local restaurant with a diverse menu--it is possible to get a fried bologna sandwich as well as very on trend ethnic dishes. The long history and close community connection are part of the charm. The taxidermy collection on the "bar side" is a trademark. Great... More
