We arrived for dinner with high hopes, having read some good reviews and a few bad ones. We were seated in the back of the space, after I expressed concern about our wiggly table near the front of the restaurant. The space is in an old brick townhome on the main street of downtown Shepherdstown, and has original plaster walls... More

We simply stopped in for lunch and had one of the best quality meals anywhere and also got to know a little the owner, Lisa Olney, an extraordinary woman with an extraordinary story of her life! We had lunch and apparently arrived as the crowds had just thinned and enjoyed a quiet, delicious time. I had their spicy black bean... More

It was just by good fate that my wife and I were attracted to Sharazade's in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, a quaint and extraordinarily nice small town not far from Washington, DC. Every dish on the menu authentically redefines the word, exquisite. Our crab quiche for lunch was the best quiche I've ever experienced. Light, flavorful. The crust the stuff of... More

The scones are absolutely to die for. (To be honest--The majority of the menu is as well...Fresh Quiche, sweets, tea sandwiches-- oh my.) I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to a friend.

We had been past this place a half dozen times and couldn't figure out what it was. It was definitely exotic looking and often not open, and we speculated about whether it was a hookah bar, an oriental nightclub or what. When we past by at lunchtime and saw a specials board outside, we decided to stop in. We were... More

When traveling to Shepherdstown to see the several Contemporary American Theater plays, we needed to find a place for lunch. As luck would have it, there was a parking place in front of Shaharazade's. We went in and found a fabulous fresh menu and excellent service. We highly recommend this restaurant and are looking forward to going back again next... More

This place would have been delightful (quality food, sweet atmosphere) if it hadn't been how the owner (?) and cook reacted when we found a hair lodged in the couscous- no apology, no reaction, very strange to say the least. An apology would have gone a long way! If I was the owner/cook I would have been horrified and at... More

Part of the charm of Shaharazade is that you're never quite sure how it's going to be. Sometimes it's crammed, and the service is almost intolerably slow, and it's clear the kitchen is in the weeds and the presentation suffers. But when it's relaxed, and if you're lucky enough to get the owner taking care of you, it's a pamper-yourself-and-loved-ones... More

I live in Shepherdstown and Shaharazade's is fast becoming a favorite. The teas are limitless, made perfectly and the staff is Knowledgeable and more than happy to help you pick a favorite. I tried the Hisbicus Tea / Lemonade infusion over the weekend and it was fantastic. The food is reasonably priced and generously portioned with a wide selection to... More

this tea house thrilled my visiting inlaws. The food is tasty, inexpensive, fresh. I go here often with guests and my SO. But it's tiny and management has been changing a lot the last few years. So maybe not dependably delightful?..
