After seeing a very good play we dined here. The atmosphere was quiet, great service and great food. The menu is adventurous and all our selections were superb. It was city food at small town prices. Go there!

I give this place an average because I think the waitress just was off that night. She served my tuna steak way over done....like done done. Usually, I eat a rare to medium rare tuna steak and my wife's lamb chop's were over done. We politely told the waitress because we want to make this place better and not looking... More

We were in Shepherdstown for the Contemp. American Theatre Festival. During CATF season, restaurants are slammed with theatregoers who need to eat between shows. (Note -- if you're there during theatre season, MUST make a reservation). Our server greeted us quickly, and although busy with several tables, was attentive throughout. other servers, and the maitre d' pitched in too. Started... More

My three friends and I had a wonderful brunch--beautifully served, ample quantity, and amazingly well priced. No drinks on Sunday until 1:00pm, but I suspect due to the blue laws. Our waitress was especially accommodating and put our flowers on ice while we attended the theatre.

While cycling the C and O canal we stayed two nights in Shepherdstown. We ate dinner at the Press Room both evenings. Both meals were uniformly terrific, and the service was attentive. The first evening we started by sharing a gorgonzola custard salad. For entrees one of us had a lobster risotto and the other had scallops with wild mushroom... More

Beautiful decor. Fine food. Attention to local suppliers, natural herbs and flavors. Adaptable for special needs (gluten-free, no sugar, etc.) Expensive.

Met friends here for dinner and really enjoyed the meal. I would have given it 4.5 stars if possible with a 1/2 star reduction only for lack of creativity. Check it out.

Every aspect of our dinner on Saturday June 21 was outstanding, starting with the reasonably priced bottle of Vino Verde ($20), fresh bread, appetizers, main course and dessert. I would like to single out the delightful risotto with scallops - a very difficult dish to prepare, and rarely done properly with the smooth texture that is so hard to achieve.... More

the overall delight of dining at the Press Room. I went for my 50th birthday, and didn't go back until my 55th, but it will never be that long between visits again. The prices are high enough to make it a fairly special treat, but not so astronomical that you should avoid it. I got the gorgonzola custard on both... More

What a surprise to find such a gem of a restaurant in Shepherdstown, Four of us each had different options and they were all great. The Pork Ribeye was delicious, sauced to perfection and perfectly cooked, the mussels were fresh and in a great wine reduction, the beef was perfect and cooked as ordered and the seafood was terrific.
