Good Natured Market and Vegetarian Cafe:In 1930, my grandfather, Emmett Wilbarger, built and ran a small gas station just outside of Bridgewater, Virginia. He sold farm fresh eggs, crates of cheese and locally made potato chips. With the advent of franchise driven stores, the independent gas station became a thing of the past. I guess I must have subconsciously missed that old store. With that in mind, Good Natured came into being. Jim and I opened our store in October of 2007. Our original intent was to become the neighborhood general store, specializing in eco-friendly products. In reality, today's "eco-friendly" really looks a lot like the things that my family sold - local, simple and well made. Over the past five years, I've come to realize that food is the driving force here at Good Natured, from the groceries and produce we sell to the homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts prepared in the cafe. Our beautiful old Victorian house is filled with good stuff for your house. We carry a little of everything....garden seeds, water filters, sandals, homeopathics, vitamins, key chains, toothbrushes, shampoos, essential oils, candles, incense, towels, socks, t-shirts, jazz, blues, reggae, folk & alternative rock CDs, water bottles, sprouting seeds, chocolates, organic coffee, bulk herbs, grains, beans, flours, local milk and eggs. If you are traveling it's a great spot for an extended break. Shop and then enjoy our "own" vegetarian burgers, a refreshing chai or our new Banana Chocolate Lava Cake. Everything is "made from scratch". We make the best grilled cheese, summer tart and vegetarian reuben in West Virginia....or so I'm told. We serve local beer and wine. (Gluten-free and Vegan) On some Saturdays we're open later as we welcome local bands and musicians from far away. It will be time well spent!

Quaint, friendly and delicious food!

I was very excited to be introduced this place. It's in a old house in downtown Martinsburg. I do appreciate that they have parking on the property. Part grocery (front), part cafe (in the back),The Good Natured lives up to its name with outstanding organic vegetarian and vegan food served in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Recommended dishes (actually everything we tried) include the house salad with vegan ranch dressing , the gluten free noodle bowl (both pictured), tomato-basil and eggplant soups, panini, ravioli, "crabby" patty, vegan coconut... We love this place. It's bright and clean; the food is awesome. Tastiest vegetarian hamburgers imaginable! Lots of other great items on the menu too. Especially love the salads which were incredibly tasty and also quite generous. The desserts are homemade and superb! Great place with adequate parking.

From the friendly service to the generous and fully organic menu, this is a rare find for the traveler who is literally fed-up with the lack of lunch options. Skip the greasy chicken and the "will this meat hurt me?" burgers for a change and feed your soul, the smarter part of you who knows you want to make better... More

Good Natured is lovely and the food is very fresh. The salads are made to order with the freshest ingredients, the soups are usually excellent. My only criticism is that the service is often abysmally slow, as there is only one waiter at any time. so, if you are in a hurry, this is not the place to go, but,... More

While driving around and seeing everything around it, I did not have high hopes for this place. However, the place itself looks great inside and out. It's definitely well kept. I ate there and I also shopped in the market. The soup I had, Thai Coconut, and the service were both great. The market itself was small but wonderful. It... More

Wonderful meal. Great vegetarian menu along with WV wines or WV craft brews. My wife and I met here to have a luncheon in the middle of a busy shopping spree and were able to relax in a great little cafe!

Don't be fooled by the exterior of this place, which looks like someone's house. The atmosphere is very cozy and the staff is extremely friendly. We had the yoga bread with a cranberry and honey spread as an appetizer which was amazing. I ordered the tempeh BLT which was delicious and it came with a house salad and garlic dressing.... More

First of all - if you're eating here on a warm day, make sure you check out the back patio for available seating! It's quite nice out there! Inside the cafe has an open seating style which doesn't really bode well for romantic outings. The salads were unexpectedly good. They were a conglomerate of fresh, tasty ingredients including; sprouts, raisins,... More

I never expected to find a place with so many homemade, delicious vegan options when in town for work. When I pulled up I wasn't sure what to make of the place, but parked and entered in the back into the cafe and it was very welcoming (both decor and service). Food was excellent, have eaten there on every trip... More
